Forums - Sony Discussion - Unreal Tournament III running at 60FPS

It seems people are forgetting that the PS3 version has mouse and keyboard support so that won't play that different from the PC version. Hate to annoy the depressed PC gamers even more but the 'huge' advantage over PS3 players in case there is cross platform play is very minor if present at all.

Can't blame PC gamers for being pissed, every great PC game (almost) also gets released on consoles and consoles get other great games that never get PC releases. It's like consoles are getting the best of both worlds. And now with keyboard and mouse support coming to PS3 and 360, future console RTS and FPS should be as good as PC versions.

I know the console gamers have mouse and keyboard support, but hardcore console gamers might as well play nothing but Hannah Montana compared to hardcore PC gamers. These people play shooters like a profession. I'll quite enjoy watching the videos on youtube of PS3 owners being slaughtered by PC gamers. However, please go ahead and play the PC gamers. I would love to hear how that turns out for you ck.

Yeah, can't blame console gamers either trying to defend their console purchase by getting seconds from the PC gaming industry, or how consoles are forever playing catch-up with PCs, or how they continually neglect the fact that a console's hardware does not evolve, while PC gaming hardware is always improving in every single aspect, from screen resolutions to processing power, so even if future console RTSs and FPSs are even better than their PC equivalents, it is only a matter of (a very short) time before the PC smokes the consoles again.

Edit: Take, for instance, the much-glorified "HD" of this generation. PC gamers have been gaming in HD for a good while. It's really nothing new but rather "been there, done that" for them. While now console gamers are going gaga over this, PC gamers have been able to enjoy 2560x1600 for at least five years now.

I normally play shooters on the PC. The PS3 version includes keyboard and mouse support. PC elitist are going to be in for a rude awakening when they realize that some of their PS3 opponents will play just as good as PC players because they may be PC users as well. EDIT: Now that I think about it... all of my friends that own consoles are PC shooter fans and they aren't push overs.

."You are also forgetting that the development will cost a lot more for the PS3 as well - it doesn't only apply to PC game development" yeah but theirs no drawback for the ps3, even if they improve the games twice as much on the ps3,people who own models from 5 years ago would still be able to buy and play it. but if PC games improve twice as much, against lets say crysis, theyd be cutting off a lot of customers who have older pc hardware " Additionally, an increase in processing power does not mean higher hardware costs. The cost remains the same." sure the hardware costs the same, but that doesnt change the fact that youll have to buy new hardware. and if pc gaming improve too much too fast, people would need to buy newer hardware again. thats what i meant as one of the reasons they cant improve pc gaming that much that fast. "What that tells you is PC game developers are also just beginning to come to terms with the extra processing power that 64 bits allows, and are just beginning to understand how to, and toimplement, games that actually make use of multicore technology. If developers say that Motorstorm only utilizes 30% of the cell, you could arguably say the same thing about PC gaming. Therefore, you can expect the same leaps and bounds for PC gaming." this, i dont know what this means >.

Maybe. I'm sure there will be some. I don't actually play shooters much myself (I play Counter-Strike and that's about it), but I do have a couple friends who get really into that professional PC gaming stuff. I've never been able to do it, but I have never seen either of them lose a random online match... ever, unless they are playing against each other. Professional shooter gamers are like WoW addicts. It becomes their life and they just rip through those who play them casually.

Really? What games have you been playing at that resolution? I have been playing games on my PC at high resolutions but not that high. I have gamed under 1080p for oblivion and other games of that nature but I get to turn on all the advanced features.

Yes - but it's the same hardware. The only performance gains you can expect are optimizations. PC gaming will not only enjoy optimizations on existing hardware, but performance gains on new hardware - something that no console can enjoy. this, i dont know what this means >.. Never saw the angry German kid. Link? I guess it's funny... I don't know much about Korea except they game mainly with PCs and that Starcraft is the official religion (jk). Again, I would love to see PC gaming numbers - we hardly have any of that information anywhere!
