Forums - Sony Discussion - White Knight Chronicles - RPGFan Import review....ouch

I am with Zexen on this, I trust RPGfan alot so this is fairly damning. Being a huge JRPG fan I will still enjoy playing it even if it is only average (Just like I still enjoyed ES) but it may not be quite as good as I hoped.

That said RPGfan does have some differences between import reviews and later ones (I notice this particularly for VC) so we'll just have to wait and see.

RPGfan is a pretty good site. Besides the review of Enchanted Arms and final fantasy 12, I like their reviews and would trust them over other main stream sites.

It sounds like a competent RPG for a console in desperate need of more RPG's. RPG's don't appeal to everyone, but for those they do, WKC sounds like a decent addition. I'll be playing SO4 on my 360, but if I get a PS3, I will probably be picking up this title regardless.

Yeah I'll be getting it anyway :P I follow a more old-school approach to owning titles. (From PSM baby~)

8-10 = Must buy. Seriously, if you were interested, go buy it.

5-7 = If your a fan of the genre, you'll find enjoyment. Not perfect by any means though.

4 - 0 = Practically unplayable :P Avoid.

As long as the game is somewhere above 60% I'll probably pick it up. Considering the lack of JRPG's the alternatives aren't that robust :P

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

25 to 30 hours... no, no, no, that's not god enough, not by far.

I'm with Zexen in that I like the reviews of this site.

The game definitely does seem to have some flaws, but it is still very appealing to me. The prospect of playing this game online with friends is definitely enticing. I'm not as much of an Online Gamer as I used to be, but a game of this nature online = yay for me.

Hopefully some of the kinks can be ironed out before North American release, especially the lack of a voice chat. I don't want to have to call people during key battles to communicate.

As for the story getting a "68%", it's Level 5, what did we expect really?

You sound like me.  Looking forward to it.

I was never expecting a mindblowing story, I know it's not L5's strength, but with a statement like this:

"Things just trudge along mindlessly in a story that makes Rogue Galaxy look like Xenogears."

That's bad

@Jordahn Awesome :D Yeah I'm a super easy pleaser lol. Some RPG's that I've really enjoyed got less than stellar marks. My beloved wild arms is a good example ;-;

As long as it isn't littered with technical atrocities, I'll probably enjoy it :P

RPGfan is one of few review sites I trust for JRPGs. Plus I always agree with the guy that reviewed WKC. So I won´t enjoy the offline part... A shame because it was one of the 2 main reasons to buy a PS3 this year. If they patch it for the NA release then the online mode would probably be awesome, but I don´t have much hope.

I´m waiting for their import review of SO4. I have high hopes for it and believe it will be the first must-have AAA JRPG on HD consoles, followed by ToV.

hahahahaah, yeah, that is a dandy of a line.

But I have a hard time imagining something worse then Rogue Galaxy to that degree. I'm playing through RG again right now currently and the game is a series of almost entirely unrelated events. The funny thing is that the character's are pretty likeable and room for development....but nope.

What does that mean for WKC?

"Let's do it!"

"You Shall Fail"

"No we won't"
