Forums - Gaming Discussion - What should I do?

I want a PS3 and almost have enough for it. But should I wait? Recently the thing with Immersion has made me stop, I really like rumble especially in racing games and thats why I was initially hesitant on getting a PS3. I like how the Wii is with both motion and rumble. But what bothers me is whether to wait or not. I mean what if Sony does the rumble and packs in a PS3 remote control also, because it is badly needed. I want the most for my money and hence why I'm working more hours to get a HDTv. But the games like heavenly sword, F1: CE and more really make me excited, I need advice. I want to play these games but I don't want to get burned when PS3 slim bonus pack! is released lol.

I'm going to say go for it now. My main reasoning is that it'll probably be a long time before the PS3 sees any console revisions/pricedrops/additions. If, down the line, PS3 does bring back rumble in its controllers, buying one controller won't seem like that big a deal.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

i agree with stof. it sounds like your pleased with the games that are out now and therefore will be happy with the games coming out later. You're probably gonna want at least 2 controllers at some point so you can play with friends, but if you're really into rumble just wait to buy rumble controllers later. The non-rumble controller won't go to waste cuz one of your mooching friends can use it while you use the rumble version. PS I got F1 last Thursday and I'm loving it. If you're really into F1 racing and racing sims, you'll probably have a blast. Moreso than any other game, it really makes me feel like I made a good choice with the PS3 because I can't get an equivalent on any other system.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

Personally, I would probably wait until after E3 unless you see a game that you really want right now ... At E3 2002 both Microsoft and Sony announced price cuts for the XBox and PS2 even though the XBox had only been on the market for 8 months; if Microsoft drops the price of the XBox 360 or offers a HD-DVD version at $400 I could see Sony reducing the price of the PS3. You would probably only save $100 (or $200 at most) but if you're not dying to play Resistance or Virtual Fighter 5 it may be worth it ...

I would wait just due to the fact that the PS3 doesn't have a huge game library that would interest me enough. Waiting also might help you get rumble into the controllers and maybe even a price drop (I doubt a price drop will occur... but who knows?). I suppose it comes down to whether or not the PS3 has games out right now that interest you.

If you plan on getting a PS3...then you might as well get it now...I don't think you'll get screwed by any better deals any time soon. Perhaps a bundle at Christmas or something, but you might as well get it now so you can buy your games when they come.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

The PS3 is basically as good as it gets. When revision 2.0 comes. It's not a hardware addition. It's hardware removal, and software addition. The games are coming this month, so if your intrested in any of them. Go get it, and play the games. You can get some killer deals on the PS3 on e-bay right now. Great place to find one. I dont know if rumble is comming to the PS3 in the near future. But I was never fond of rumble, and always turned it off if I had the choice. It makes the controllers heavy, and needs a 4x bigger battery. I had the Logitch wireless PS2 controller. It would last for months without rumble. With rumble, it would go about a week. The PS3 controller weighs about as much as a PSP battery. (1800mAH) so I would guess it has about a 400 or 600mAH battery in it. Wich is fine and all, but it's small. If you want rumble, that needs to be ALOT bigger. And that makes the controller alot heavier. Personally. I like it lighter. Feels flimsy at first... comming from wavebirds and the Logitech wireless. But now everything just feels... too heavy. If you plan on buying a PS3 before Q4. Now is as good as any time.

Agree (I only looked at the first paragraph and skimmed threw the rest and looked at the end, dont worry I do that for most the posts). Be ahead before the great games come.

I'm not sure, but you aren't likely to get rumble support for first gen software even if they came out with rumble tomorrow... Are you? You won't get a price cut this year, and the software is certainly showing up, so it may be as good a time as any... There's no point in waiting for the inevitable pack-ins, because they'll just as likely be some crappy movie like The Da Vinci Code as anything you want... And I imagine it'll take awhile to get rumble out there...

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

I dont see any packins comming to the PS3 for awhile. They had I think 400,000 of the nascar BluRays on the first 400,000 PS3's. (I got one of those. haha) I'd think you'd be waiting a long time for a packin.
