Wouldn't KI3 fall outside the scope of new IP?

Anyway I don't get why everyone is clammoring for a new KI, the only reason it was any good on the SNES was the lack of quality fighters on the SNES not called Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter. There are SO many more good fighting series now and Killer Instinct for the N64 was quite poor (especially compared with the Virtua Figher and Tekken series games that were coming out on the Saturn and Playstation).

I mean vs Mortal Kombat (which has been good the last few games), Tekken 5/6, Soul Calibur 4, Virtua Fighter 4 and all the rest (even dead or alive and other 2nd tier games have their moments) how would a KI game not get caught in the shuffle? I remember VERY underwhelming reviews for the KI games and they were very underwhelming to play.

Now when an above poster mentioned a Panzer Dragon game, that I would play immediately without question. There are a ton of dreamcast/saturn games that were awesome and need to be brought up to date like that. I would LOVE a decent remake of Phantasy Star Online (as opposed to the crap remakes on the gamecube and PC) or any number of other quality Dreamcast games. There are plenty of classic games that deserve a revamp to the current gen, Killer Instinct is just not one of them.

I'm not alone in my distaste for killer instinct, KI gold had a 74% overall rating at the time (according to www.gamerankings.com) which is about what it deserved from playing it. It's probably because I played Tekken 2 and then Tekken 3 around the same time, but it just wasn't that good, and that was back when most Rare games WERE good so if ever a KI game was going to own it was then.

Announcements at GDC! Believe!

Oh man, two months seems way too far away. On the bright side, we can spend these two months guessing what the two new IPs could be. My guess is a new FPS, not named Halo that will eventually become Microsoft's new massive game.

This I'm guessing would be because(think about it): After Halo 1 and 2, Gears of War came out and quickly became an absolute monster, getting close to rivaling Halo 1 vs. Gears 1 in sales. Now, before Gears 3 comes out, like before Halo 3 came out, Microsoft is going to unleash upon the unsuspecting world a whole new monster that is drastically different then Halo and Gears(like Gears was to Halo), but will end up becoming an ultimately huge series.

My second guess is Mr. Molyneaux's secret game that he said is "unlike anything we've ever done and you've ever seen." I'll leave it at that, as its almost impossible to know when to take his word after the decent Fable 1 then the fantastically sublime Fable 2.

For me, I want it to be a whole  new JRPG. That'd make my day :)

Lol. What if they are gonna announce like two new XBLA games? That'd suck XP

March 23-27, Q1 ends on 31/03/09 so thats the last chance for an announcement.

Sez you. XBLA is my favorite thing this gen, so I say bring on the XBLA games!

More casual titles would be my guess.

Nothing wrong with Killer Instinct though, I used to love that game at the arcades.

I agree about a new Syndicate, but I think Moly said the IP belongs to EA.
