Forums - Nintendo Discussion - MP3, SMG, SMKart, SSBM all within a few months! What's N working on for 08?

I'm sure they wont release it sooo soon to their other big three. The would release their biggest franchises in a few weeks time: not good. SSBB will eat Kart's potential sales. Plus SSBB is coming out in 08 here in Europe so we'll probably see Kart later.

Metroid Prime 3 Hype Level: Corrupted

IGN - 9.5

It is a hardcore game through and through. You will get your ass kicked by bosses. You will be stumped by the sometimes complex, but never overbearing, exploration.

I'm not sure how much longer Nintendo can keep this up. They've obviously done some serious co-ordination between all their development teams to ensure that the Wii library is nicely fleshed out in its first year. I'm sure they're working hard on their next projects, but I don't think all those dev teams can just turn around and do it all over again in 2008.

The only titles I see slated for '08 are Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Wii Music and Fit. There's a flight game which was apparently first demoed with Wii Sports in E3 2006, and might be part of a larger motorsports package. There's also an unnamed project from the makers of Geist.

I think 2008 will be a quiet year when Nintendo is content to allow 3rd-parties to take most of the spotlight. By 2009, Big N will be ready to lay down another barrage of blockbusters even more attuned to the potential of the Wiimote than their 2007 offerings.

@ Androo: That's what I was thinking when I started the topic: Doesn't Nintendo waste potential? I mean, they cannot deliver enough Wii consoles now, without any big games available. Every game of the aformentioned has potential to massively boost sales, so it would be wise to spread the releases more evenly over the next year.

On the other hand, maybe they just have to release them all around christmas, to counter the onslaught of big XBox & PS3 titles.

Currently playing: NSMB (Wii)

Waiting for: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii), The Last Story (Wii), Golden Sun (DS), Portal 2 (Wii? or OSX), Metroid: Other M (Wii),
... and of course Zelda (Wii)

Kirby Wii, Disaster, Animal Crossing Wii, and the new IP are all pretty much confirmed for 08 by Now. Add the possibility of Project HAMMER, Star Fox Wii, Mario sports titles, the rumors of the revived old franchise, and probably some other tricks/surprises up their sleeves...I'd say 2008 is a wild card.

Zelda Wii's been in development for awhile but I don't think it'll be ready before 2009. I'd say Fall 2008 at the earliest (and that's extremely optimistic) but knowing Nintendo, that would probably be Fall 2009, especially considering that this is supposed to be the second Neo Zelda...I'm sure Nintendo is going to want to take all the time it can to get this one perfected.

Possible future Wii games in series developed or comissioned by Nintendo:

Pikmin
Yoshi
Nintendogs (Not core)
Kid Icarus
Earthbound
Star Fox
Mario Golf
Mario Tennis
Super Mario RPG (SPM does not count)
Animal Crossing
Wii Music
That's five years worth of Nintendo core games...

 Hmmm we said Big guns.

Pikmin - Maybee a Big gun.

Yoshi - Doubt it.

Nintendogs - Don't think will work on the Wii as it does on the DS

Kid Icarus - Could be a big gun, but doubt it.

Earthbound - Could be a big gun, but doubt it.

Star Fox - Would be a big gun!

Mario Golf/Tennis - Ok, its a Mario! Will come, will sell, but i wouldn't call it a Big gun, because Wii Sports allready capture that market, but definitly a good gun.

Animal Crossing - Announced http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_Crossing_Wii

Wii Music - I doubt it will be selling good or be a big gun, but i could be wrong.

I've read a rumour that Retro will be working on Kid Icarus once they're done with MP3.
And NOE are actually trying to bring Mario Kart to Europe this year due to the lack of SSBB.

Don't forget we should see Pilotwings and Wave Race.

Go to IGN and they have over 100 games in development for next year, including a number from Nintendo themselves.

Starfox Wii, F-Zero Wii, Donkey Kong Wii(an actual adventure game not like the racing DK game coming in Q4),Pikmin Wii, loads of 3rd party stuff, another casual killer app, New Zelda Wii(probably 09/10 tho)
