Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why does every game want to kill Halo?

First it was Halo then Halo 2 and now it's Halo 3.

Will Halo Wars be the next victim?

Victim?

That would imply that a Halo was killed...

You probably mean "Will Halo Wars be the next King"

Halo is old now.

People still thinking about that stuff are living in the past.

Half-life 2 killed Halo. You can't kill what already is dead.

Most PC shooters kill Halo. Hell, System Shock killed Halo, and it was made ages ago.

Finding the next "Halo-killer" is just a roundabout way of keeping the Halo games in the spotlight.

Since Halo's big achievement was popularizing FPS on the home console, I don't see how it's possible for any PC shooter to 'kill' it.

I don't remember half life 2 having online multiplayer at all. Oh yeah...you have the get team fortress for that... But what if you want vehicles in your combat? Not a problem, PC Battlefield has that...

Seriously, there isn't a single game out there (console or PC) with the complete package of halo. There wasn't a comparable one when halo came out...then they played catch up and caught up eventually, but then Halo 2 was the new king...and now its halo 3.

While games may beat its single player campaign, they may look better, have more options...etc. One cant deny that as far as console FPS games go, the package of Halo 3 is hard to beat. I mean, COD4 didn't even have coop. Took them a year to revise the game, re-release it with a WW2 background and add coop.

No, that was Goldeneye.  Halo was the console online multiplayer success.
