Forums - Gaming Discussion - I'm so disappointed - RE5 Demo

It's not on the Wii. Surely you realised that when you picked up the Playstation controller?

That guy from the video is a marketing director at Capcom. One would expect him to know what he's talking about.

I certainly hope so. It doesn't help Resevil's case that there are no videos of moving and shooting simultaniously, nor was it in the demo.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Well, tried the demo and again came to the conclusion that I just don't like RE games.

I admire the graphics, polish and clear gameplay the demo contains. But the game just doesn't sit well with me. I don't like the controls or the RE 'style' of gameplay. Guess I'm just more of a Silent Hill type gamer.

The only genuine complaint I would have based on the demo is the knife seems borked to use, and moving slowly while shooting would have felt more immersive for me.

Other than that it looks great just not to my tastes.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Guys, the "Gears of War" style controls just refers to controls C and D type. In other words, you use the right stick to aim and the left stick to move/strafe.

For those complaining about running being mapped to X (PS3) or A (XBox360), note that you can also run by pushing in the left thumb stick. You have to hold it down though. It's not like COD4 where you can just press it once to activate running.

The demo was ok. Resident Evil 4 is by far one of my favorite games. I've beaten it 5 times (GC version, twice on normal, 3 times on pro), and plan on playing it again soon for the PS2 (for Adas extra mission). But the Resident Evil 5 demo didn't blow me away.

And after playing MGS4 and Dead Space, it really annoys me that I can't even walk slowly and shoot. I don't care that I can't run and shoot, but to have to stand perfectly still while shooting is stupid.

Obviously you didn't watch the video, so why did you bother to comment on it?

Because I remember when this was still news.

EDIT:  To clarify, I believe that at E3 control types C and D weren't available and that's when they said that they would be adding controls like Gears of War.  Then at TGS they showed off these Gears of War controls.  Which was basically left stick move, right stick aim.  I could be wrong about which trade shows what was said, but that's the basic gist.

Well that (and KylieDog's link) shuts me up. And makes that Capcom marketing director an idiot in the process.

@NJ5

and also the game a definite disappointment

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I replayed with type-A controls and here are my new thoughts:

Yes, I was a bit hasty in my remarks. I found a lot of ammo hidden around, which definitely helped out a lot. And yeah, it was sorta bad on my part because I wasn't use to all the action that was gonna occur.

It's not bad. I still don't love the controls. I'd much rather use Wiimote, but, since it'll never come to the Wii, I'll prolly pick it up.

I still wish running was a little more comfortable.
