Forums - Gaming Discussion - Annoying game design choices

Time limits. I hate time limits.

I hate the creatures that have like 2 hp but are annoying as hell to kill. Usually bats. Those piss me off, I understand why they are implemented in games, but still They are found (or were found anyway) in virtually every Action/Adventure/RPG/Horror game ever made. They piss me off.

Play Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm ... it's full of them in the Story mode....

4 ≈ One

It's more game specific but always one level in each halo, always pissed me off. Halo 1 Library, Halo 2 Library, Halo 3 Cortana.

- Autosave in places where there shouldn't be

- Cutscenes that in total are 2/3 or 3/4 of a game's length

- Unskipable cutscenes

- Too much focus in graphics that the evidence of little to no debugging is more obvious than sweet sugar

- Camera that focus more on the environment around the game character than the character.

- forcing waggle in a game designed for button pressing controls

Save Points.
Metroid Prime 3 - Worse fucking save system ever. Every save point is so damn far and at one point they dont let you save. If you decide to turn youre system off be prepared to replay hours of gameplay.
Castle of Shikigami III - There is NO save point......

Random Battles.
Make no damn sense! Only game I can accept having this is Pokemon because youre looking for them.

Multiple Boss Forms
Ninja Gaiden & The Minish Cap - I understand maybe 2 but once you hit 3 or more youre pushing it. Not only does it get frustrating but it takes some of the excitement away.

Waggle Controls
Dont add fucking waggle controls for the sake of motion!

EDIT - incandescense - "Ugly character design unless it's ugly for a good reason."

I am learning about videogames as a developer and analyst (in terms of software not sales) on my own and I'm just starting to look at things from a different perspective. I will put my results in my blogs

Making goldenaxe single player.

COD4 and the amount of grenades online (x3 +1 for martyrdom + sonic boom) and these guys just spawn, throw their nades in the air, run in and die, and repeat.

Getting spawn killed.

Games that are too easy, and increasing the difficulty only increases enemy bullet damage and toughness, while leaving them as retarded and non-aggresive as they were on normal. So the game on hard isn't hard, it just takes more time, which is boring.

Backtracking to extend the games playtime. DMC was annoying for this.

- Save points: I hate that!
- cutscenes you cannot skip!
- items limitation ("Your bag is full": aaaargggghhhhh!!!)
- DLC in general!
