Halo 3 Mythic Map Pack Detailed
A look at what Halo Wars Limited Edition buyers will get in March.
January 30, 2009 - When Ensemble Studios' real-time strategy game Halo Wars is released in the U.S. on March 3, the Limited Collector's Edition will include a code to download the Mythic Map Pack, a collection of three new multiplayer maps for Halo 3. To date, Bungie and Microsoft have been fairly quiet about what those new areas will contain.
But Microsoft and Bungie are now dealing out some solid intel about the Mythic Map Pack. We now know the names of the maps, their layouts and which game types they're best suited for. Here's the info, direct from Microsoft:
Sandbox
Combines large-scale vehicular combat with a limitless amount of Forge customization. Boasting a tiered, open-world layout, "Halo 3" players will be able to build their own unique game experiences using the Forge map editor. Sandbox is a map unlike any Bungie has ever created.
Assembly
Set in the heart of a Covenant Scarab manufacturing facility. With two identical bases on either side of this medium-sized map, it's a perfect environment for both Slayer and objective games like Capture the Flag and Assault.
Orbital
A small asymmetrical map, is set in the docking station of the Quito Space Tether. One-sided games like One Flag, and One Bomb are sure to become quick fan-favorites, but the Slayer faithful will also find plenty of action on this battleground.
Although early Halo Wars adopters with full wallets will be able to get their hands on the Mythic in just over a month's time, we still don't know when the maps will be available for purchase by the rank and file.
