The latest Famitsu says that Yakuza 3 needs a 5120MB installation on the HDD. The slow speed of the BluRay-Drive is to blame.

I do not have a direct source to famitsu or an English website. I read it on a German website, which won't help here, I guess.

IMO mandatory Installations on a console is the worst thing this generation brought to us.

Mandatory installs is the best thing to ever come this generation, it means the game can be streamed faster and load times are severly decreased. Killzone 2 has no installs but they are load times and I have seen people bitch about there not being a mandatory install.

I want a gorgeous 50GB install for FFXIII, no load times at all and on one glorious 50GB blu-ray disc. ;)

yakuza 3 from the footage ive seen looks to be a massive game, i think yakuza will be will recived, shame about the 5 gig install though

I think it is almost time to upgrade the HD. I just used nearly 5gb on socom... :(

Sony should teach 3rd parties how they do it,,,,their games look better and also performs better,,yet it doesn't need any installation.

no it has nothing to do with blu ray speed

Uncharted had no installs and my PS3 went into overdrive all the time, 360 does the same but that is just because the hardware is meh to say the least. I have a 160GB HDD in my PS3 and it needs to be used, one install for a huge game like FFXIII, WKC or whatever is what I want.

MGS4 however was an absolute joke when it came to installs, just terrible.

unbeliveable spin by PS3-fans here. Mandatory installs do not make a game better. Do you think Sony would allow mandatory installs if they were not necessary? Waiting 20 minutes before you can start the game is not great either.

Think about those lucky PS3 Users with the 20GB HDD. they can actually play 3 games like this at the same time...

^^^^They can spend $40 and buy 160 GB HDD unlike 360 ;)
