TOKYO, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Sony Corp (6758.T) said on Thursday it sold 4.46 million units of its PlayStation 3 game console in October-December, down 9 percent from 4.9 million units a year earlier.

of course they dropped they were competing with the much cheaper 360 in 2007 the 360 wasn't at $200.

PS3 is undertracked here then,,,,

16.84+4.46=21.30 million LTD

we have PS3 at 19.3 sold to customers

which means around 2 million console are on shelves which is not right.

Also Q32007 included a PS3 price-cut bump

ouch that is never a good sign, they ain't even to the peak 3rd year and already starting to decline.

you should double check that number.

edit: not saying PS3 isn't undertracked her or anything but its at 20 million on here.  And who knows with all those deals people say are going around and claiming they are HIDDEN sony price cuts it could be a shit ton ARE on shelfs and retailers are trying to get rid of them to free up shelf space.

Someone forgot to send them the memo. According to Kaz they're not competing.

Its not under tracked. Its Sony padding their numbers. NPD. Track chart and media crate already confirmed VGC numbers.

Sony cannot legally do that . the numbers are subject to audit.

Please stop trying to spread lies.

If the number is wrong, it's more than likely an error by the reporter.
