You know Zucas, this is an excellent point, and I think it reaches beyond just Japan. Regardless of the perceived console wars the larger picture is our entire industry. If nothing else, Nintendo has at least allowed the gaming industry to grow, and they deserve credit for that, whether you dislike the Wii/DS or not. The fact remains that if you take away Wii's contribution to the console business, it is seen as a shrinking endeavor, and that is scary for those who love gaming in general.

I never understood the idea of wishing something to fail, whether it is Wii music or LBP or Banjo. Some seem to hope for entire console makers to fail and that is just nonsensical.

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

No. Yakuza: Kenzan! released in March. The PS3 recieved a price in November of 2007, which actually wasn't much of a price cut more than an intraduction of the 40 GB model.

It did recieve Devil May Cry 4 on January 31st though.

18k I believe will be the lowest Wii weekly total sales this year in Japan.

If the Wii were to drop below 10k in Japan, one can only imagine how low Ps3 sales would go. The whole console market is shrinking in Japan so how can anyone gloat at the prospect of sub 10k Wii sales? If that were the case, Ps3 would be at a record low, too. Don't think Wii sales will fall below 10k anyway. Software and bundles, new colours and a possible price cut will invigorate sales in Japan i think.

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

Did anyone read the numbers reached by current gen consoles in Japan and compared them to population?
Excluding XB360, density is very high:
Wii has a density comparable to USA and much higher than Others
PS3 the same
And portables are insane, both DS and PSP have densities at least double than in USA, not to mention Others.

If you predit the wii will drop below 10k, do you also predict the PS3 will drop below 1k as it's selling less than wii (most of the time)?  Maybe the 360 will fall below 100?

This seems silly. "Wii will drop a lot because it's where PS3 was and ps3 dropped a lot zomg!"

It's all about hte software. Wii needs some software in japan and it will get it in march.
