the wii is tracking less in Japan then what the ps3 did this time last year. and we all know how low ps3 sales went.

Wii 2009 vs ps3 2008

1st week 131.78-68.433 winner WII

2nd week 48.228-37.183 winner WII

3rd week 31.916-35.76 winner PS3

4th week 26.462-32.315 winner PS3

this clearly shows that 2008 ps3 is tracking higher then a 2009 Wii

Edited: I have decided to update this post for further proof of the Wii falling below 10k this year

 

5th week 24.309-39.676 winner PS3 Devil may cry 4 release week

6th week 21.000-22.924 winner PS3

After 6th week the ps3 droped off to like 18 k then 13k then down and down. Will the Wii share the same fate? I think it Will, maybe not as fast as the PS3 but it will happen.

Why be so specific concerning Wii sales? Console gaming overall is down in Japan. Nothing new, really.

Wii sales are more software driven in Japan than the other regions. So look to the software for your trends. I don't know when the RPGs are coming, but isn't Sports Resort coming out in March? That'll be a big booster.

This must be the worst reasoning I've ever heard. In January last year the PS3 had just received a price drop and wasn't there a Yakuza game in January? After the release of that game sales suddenly dropped.

excuses aside the PS3 is doing better then wii for the given time frames. @ stof ok thanks for that info i will go check it out now.

well, if the Wii drops to 10k, and it normally outsells it 4:1, then the PS3 will be doing 2.5k/week. The X360 is will be doing 7k/week, since it found new legs in japan and can't follow old models. The X360 will surpass the PS3 in japan in ~380 weeks, or in 7 years. Now if only Microsoft can follow the 12 year plan.




If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

So in two sentences you're both acknowledging my point that console sales are driven by software, and writing off Louie's statement that the PS3's sales at that time saw a boost because of software...

Nope not really i just being extra nice to you because of you epic post count. jokes, t3h ps3 got a little spin-off of a ok selling franchise. i hardly call that a reason for a hardware boost. Devil may cry dont count eva, that got poor sales.

I know, right!  He's so excited about it too... like it'll make his day to see the Wii under 10k.
