5. Make Regular, Relevant, and Expansive Software Updates

6. Snatch up exclusives (or Take Them from the Competition)

This is a good way to detroy small studios. It forces them to expand and after the game is complete they may not be able to commit to further high budget titles. Maker of Haze, Ensemble studios..... while it seems like a good idea. Companies going under only robs us as gamers future good games.

7. Release Your Console First

I agree, but even being first doesn't garuntee victory. It does give an edge though.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Seems to me that Nintendo has and will always be superior in game quality.. 8D

Its pretty damn easy to make 2 good games and than just upgrade the graphics and characters just like Nintendo is doing. Sony and Microsoft are at least trying to make new characters and new stories. If Sony worked 20 years on Medievil just like Nintendo worked 20 years on Mario, Medievil games would be pure 10 today. Like i said its pretty easy to make 1 or 2 characters and than upgrading them step by step for 20 years. Any company can do that

Then why don't they? Zelda & Mario games are what made Nintendo amazing. They have that nostalgic feeling to them and will always satisfy. You don't need new IPs every second because sometimes people like what they have. Sales reflect that people still want Zelda and Mario, ergo, they're going to provide. But, you're right! You don't see Microsoft or Sony using the same games each gen..*cough*halo granturismo ratchet&clank etc*cough*

How can you even say these games are bad? Have you played them? What games have Sony and Microsoft produced themselves that are AMAZING?

 

 

 1.Because Sony is in gaming buisnes for 3 generations and Microsoft for 2.

2.Halo has its 3 games, ratchet and clank has its 5-6 games, gran turismo has its 5 games.

 Mario has its 20 or more games. Zelda has its 10 or more games.

3.I am not saying those games are bad, i like Mario  on Game Boy Advance.

4.Little Big Planet? resistance 2? Halo? Gears Of war? God Of War? Gran Turismo?

 

And from which web site are those results? Gamerankings.com? What the hell is that web site? I bet nobody on this web site has heard of it.

 

I'd like to argue that they have.

 

1. So? That doesn't mean anything. If they were in the game as long as Nintendo they would have still done it.

2. Mario has eight games in the main series while Zelda has nine, I believe. I'm excluding handheld and spinoffs.

3. Good!

4. Metroid? Starfox? Pikmin? Advance Wars? Animal Crossing?

 

 Are you kidding me? Mario doctor, Mario basketball player, mario footbal player. I am not counting main series, i am counting all games. You guys can count all racthet and clank games but you cant count all mario games? I think i saw at least 4 or 5 mario games for GBA.

You're right. Nintendo NEVER creates new IPs. It's all Mario and Zelda. That's why the biggest Nintendo games over the past five years have been Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Nintendogs, and Brain Age.
What? Thats stupid. You cant count a game which is sold together with console. Wii sports is together with wii in the box.And which character did you find the best in wii sports?  Wii fit is not a game, its a Nintendo's way to beat its gaming competitors without actuall games.

Why does it not count as a new IP that Nintendo has created because it's a pack-in game?  It's at least somewhat arguable that the sales should not count (a losing argument IMO), but its EXISTENCE is impossible to deny.  Or so I thought until now.

Sony had a controller that used analog stick inputs before the N64 hit the market, so fail on your part.  Sonys controller was a re-design of its other controller with analog sticks, unlike the N64 controler which is the biggest screw up in modern controller history.

[edit:  And on the off chance you're serious, be advised that this forum has had fiercely fought battles over gamerankings vs. metacritic, with gamerankings usually winning AFAIK.  It is extremely well known on this site.]

Dont know about the other ones but #1 is definetly true. Try XBL at the beggining of this gen, then PSN at the beggining of this gen. Sony had no clue. Thankfully they're learning now.

So, i guess if Sony sold Tekken 4 together with PS2, Tekken 4 would be the best game in the history because it would sold over 140 millions together with PS2? I am sorry but sales doesent make the game good at all. You cant play sales, can you? And since Wii sports is new IP i am asking you, which character did you liked the best in wii sports?

So you're counting Mario Kart games in this?  Nintendo games just work differently, that's their Gran Turismo.  You're being silly.  

Also, as I said above, Ratchet & Clank actually has had 8 games.  In 7 years.   
Gran Turismo has arguably had 7 games:  GT; GT2; GT3; GT Concept (3 games, 1 each in diff. regions so I count as one); GT4P; GT4; GT5P.  Not counting demo discs, GTHD Concept, etc.
