Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The lack of an ethernet port on the Wii is a ridiculous omission.

I perplexes me why there would not be something as simple as an ethernet port on the Wii.  To make things worse, the LAN adapter is pretty hard to find.  Best Buy even told me they discontinued the LAN adapter they used to sell.  How dumb is that?  Not everybody has Wi-fi.  I know I can get it on Amazon if I have to, but I prefer to buy it locally if possible.  Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

you could always buy the lan adapter online, or just get a wireless modem they are quite cheap now and more convenient, but yeah, ethernet port on wii would've been nice.

I got a wireless router for a gift last Christmas and had tons of problems just getting it to work with my computer.  Spent a couple of hours on the phone with tech support and really didn't get anywhere so I returned it.  Maybe it was just a piece of junk.  Anyway, I prefer a wired connection.  I'd like to finally dip into the Virtual Console.

I bought a LAN adapter for 9.99 at buy.com before I got wireless.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Check out my game about moles ^

Of course, Wi-fi is far more useful for 90% of the population so you should be looking at MS.

You can always search for one of those USB dongles for your Wii on the internet. (They've discontinued that too, but certain people might be clearing the stock)

The drawback is that your PC has to be running all the time.

So whats more Ridiculous?? No WiFi on the 360 or no ethernet on the Wii?

F@ck Ubisoft and their commitment to Wii shovelware.

^That's a very difficult question.

Wi-Fi is the step up from wired ethernet. Also, wireless access points often have ethernet ports anyway.
