It seems like the leads are Tekken 3 and Brawl. The last thread I saw about this was the same way. I think this is based on some people splitting them into subgenres. For my money, Tekken 3.

There is only ONE game that became a revolution and marked a before and after in videogames' history: Street Fighter II.

I also have Super Smash Bros Brawl for my Wii and it is a great game, but the best fighting of all time is with no doubt Street Fighter II.

I can't believe that everybody in this thread do not think the same.

 

This thread is not asking for the most revolutionary, it's asking for the best.  Street Fighter 2 isn't even the best in the series now.  Most developers try to improve upon things, you know.

I can't believe people say Smash bros, but I'm not going to start that argument...

Any Tekken 2, 3, or 5. Heck the original will do, and Tag Tournament was a blast. Didn't like 4 much though.

For all of you guys saying Street Fighter 2: are you still playing that? Do you think to yourself: "man, I want to play a fighting game, let's get out SF2!!"?

No Street Fighter Alpha 1, 2, or 3? No Street Fighter 3? Baffles the hell out of me.

If you are still saying SF2 is the best, then you are saying there is no point to releasing any new fighting game besides Super Street Fighter 2 HD Remix because if we haven't improved upon the genre since then, clearly there is no point.

This isn't about the most revolutionary, which is clearly SF2, this is about the BEST.

i loved tekken 4 so much....i think it is my most played tekken game....i killed the game every night

but it is not my best.....my order goes : tekken3 > tekken5 dr >tekken5 > tekken4 >tekken tag> tekken2

i didnt like tekken 1 btw (still dont like it)
