Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Seraphic has officially "Jumped in" ! (Epicness)

  • I have the Arcade model (Duh.) soley for SO4 and SO4 alone, yet games like LO and IU peak my interest but i heared both IU and LO require an internet connection for some sort of weird update for both games, and i dont plan to buy that Wi-Fi thing so is there anyway around this issuse or am i damned?
NO UPDATES REQUIRED !!!
  • Can i freely upgrade my 360's HDD at some point if i so choose, and if "yes" then is it simple like the PS3's HDD swaping?
It's even simpler and you can cheap buy those HDD's from ebay
  • The interface is very odd to me, i may have played games at my local wal-mart and Gamestop but NEVER used the interface once during those times, and it feel very unstable and awkward VS the PS3's XMB any hints or tips to get my self use to it quicker?
Uhhhhm....  Do you have a Jasper 360 with internal memory and the NXE or the old dashboard ?
  • Is there anyway to charge up my 360's controller without using batterys? Via what PS3's does when connected to a USB port.
Yes the Play & Charge Kit for about $20
  • Xbox Live, ... this may sound absurd... but truth be told i dont know what exactly it is and how to use it, i know this isnt a big deal right now since i dont even have wi-fi or an ether-net cable but i'd like to know more about it since it seems top-notch, i'd also like my own personal review of both XBL and PSN.
Xbox Live = Online play + Netflix + Marketplace (Videos, XBLA, Community games, hundreds of add-ons and demos) + many more
  • What sorts of XBL memberships are there? i always thought there was only gold but my buddy from PSN says theres Silver and its free but you still cant play online, is this true or false?

Silver = You can do ANYTHING on Xbox LIVE with the exception of Playing games Online and you need to wait 1 week longer for a new demo. This service is of course for free

Gold = You can obviously do what you want ^^

  • All multi-platform games i will buy for my PS3 since im most comfortable there and 80% or more of my buddies use the PS3 for online, so with that said, name me some exclusive games i may deem worthy. its pretty obvious what my fave genres are (for those who know me around here) :P ..

Important question: Do you have a powerful PC ? (I'm asking because of PC/360 only games)

2nd question: From you games collection I can see you like JRPGs, what are the other genres ?

You should check out Tales of Vesperia (most think it's the best JRPG on 360) and LO. IU is not that great, but if you find if very cheap you should check it out.

LO has a DLC level, but it's actually not that good.

Solid, guess i'll buy after SO4 then. i do love tri-ace games so i'll give it a go, and yeah i hear alot of good things about LO, almost on par with VC.

Edit: @Nanaki.

hehe and now that I have actually read your post! I would answer your questions but every one else kinda allready has :( so sad, any way! what I did want to say is that I baught my dad the arcade model the other day and I'm giving it to him tomorow with SBK 08 (super bike racing game) so I have a question for you! MUAHAHAHA the tables have turned!

Does the arcade have a HDMI output thingy???

Lulz!!!! lol, and i dunno didnt really check i go take a look right now! :P

Edit: No, not that i can see. kind of a bummer, but no bigie i guess, PS3's the main one i needed an HDMI for anyway, but as for your dad he may not be in luck. :/

Every 360 has a HDMI now as long as you bought it new.  The old cores didn't and some of the old pros, but as far as I know that is not the case anymore.

Hard drives- If you looking for a cheap HD I would probably go with the refurbished special they got going on.

Wifi- I really hate gaming with it (tried on my PS3) and it just seemed to lag more.  But if you need it you can make your own wifi adapter for just over $20 bucks, I think its called a wifi bridge.

Live-  You can get a free month long trial of live when you sign up for the service. (you can do this several times actually  just change your email addy but you will lose your achievements)

Batteries-  You can buy the rechargeable battery packs, but I already had rechargeable batteries so I just use those.  It sounds like a hassle but you really don't need to charge them that often.

Once you have been messing around with the blades, you will come to enjoy the Live experience more and more.  You should try the trial first, even if you just drag out a eithernet cord and string it across your living room.  There are many many Arcade games on Live that I really like and you can try the demo's for free.  Lots of stuff there just go look.

As for exclusives, it depends on what kind of games you are into.  Tons of JRPG's which I like as well, pluss you may be interested in a little game called Mass Effect.  It should keep you busy for a while and it is dirt cheap right now.  Here is a quick list of Cheap games that you need to try.  You can find them on ebay for cheap.  Dead Rising, Gears 1, Lost Odyssey, Viva Pinata, Kameo: Elements of Power.  Lots of others out there and most you can try the demo for first.

1) That should be pretty easy to find out. Just tell me how your interface looks like.

1st pic: http://www.themarriedgamers.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/nxe1.jpg

Jasper with internal memory and pre installed NXE.

2nd pic: http://www.gameinformer.com/NR/rdonlyres/3947423B-4EED-444B-AAA3-C6F297970330/8089/XboxLive.jpg

Probably a Falcon with the old dashboard.

2) Great so I could recommend you more 360 games, but you still haven't told me what your other favourite genres beside JRPGs are :(

I can only guess. Shooters ? WRPGs as well ?

3) You only need to pay when you create your own online shop on ebay
