WTF are you all seriously touched by this??? may i ask how? if all it took was a few stretching exercises on wii fit the girl could have been walking god damm 3 years ago. she didnt need to wait for a piece of plastic to do it on.

You have to understand everybody is different.

Everybody gains confidence different ways...

Physical therapy is as fun as you think or as easy as stretching and lifting weights

I used to take my dad to physical therapy every day after he’s had the stroke.

Half his body were near-paralyzed and his training were somewhat rigorous even for me to watch... and I know my dad did not feel as complete as he used to

I can only feel how the little girl feel...

If Wii can help make the transition a little better, so be it.

I’m sure physical therapy have helped many people walk again, etc

But that’s the point of physical therapy

For a video game console to help such a cause is good thing.

EDIT:

plus, u’re prollie like outkast... another anti-wii who prollie is in luv w/ wii deep down insyde

LOL, scrooge

I come from a scientific research background where you are expected to actually do a little research before shooting off your mouth and to provide some documentation.

Besides his cynical attitude to the story just pissed me off. If a $350 investment helps at all, what's the problem. And as far as cheaper ways to accomplish the same thing shows he knows nothing about the cost of physical therapy or the other instruments cost.

LOL, That was just my way of saying you dropped ownage. Also there is more than one path any research on post history would show bias on any poster here. Perhaps saving you the post but I think you did it not for Outkast but for anyone who might of taken Outkasts post as fact.

This and the fact that I am steadily losing weight and having a lot of fun, especially when family is over, is the reason why Wii Fit will be and deserves to be the #1 selling non-bundled game ever!

LONG LIVE WII FIT!

Wait, does that mean we won't be able to call your superchunk anymore?

I hate learning new screen names.

Good to hear, dude, and hope it keeps up.

Sorry, my sense of humor is pretty nonfuctional on this issue. I see sick and dying children everyday and it tears me apart. I see plenty of older folks in the same boat but at least they had some shot at life. It just sucks when kids never even have a chance.

We do a lot of somewhat unusual things to try to help them, physically and emotionally. We have people that bring in specially trained dogs for the kids to play with, magicians to do shows, the nurses all wear uniforms with animals or cartoon characters on them to not be so scarey. You can't always reason with a child and just tell them to do something that hurts because it'll be good for them eventually. You use whatever will work. The Wii does - good enough for me.

Yeah I know that. I htink the most imporatant thing is motivation for PT or OT. I also think that the real time feed back is very helpful for any type of therapy. Since Wii Fit works around balance specifcally it definitely helps.

I think the fact that you can be very active(but don't have to be very active) to play some Wii games is also beneficial it always people to start a game with lower levels of movement but once they really get into to it they can do wider motions. That kind of flexibility is also key.

All of which could have been done without over £300 worth of equipment. Give me a break.

Yeah, it could've required over £2000 worth of equipment, like it's normally required to do this sort of rehab.

I think this thread is the prefect place to post the short piece made by "Découverte" a weekly show on Radio-Canada about current science. It's called "La Wii comme outil thérapeutique" (The Wii as a therapeutic tool) and it is 10 minutes long and really shows how the Wii brings something new to rehabilitation therapy. It's only in French though, enjoy :
