So still no software bc for PS2 Games ? So the rumours about that were all pointless ? Maybe next time

I'm kinda getting sick and tired of these BS updates, I want some gaming updates. Like in-game or cross-game chat. Or how about the ability to surf the internet in chat rooms. Or maybe force the in game music ability on developers. These types of updates are a waste of time

I agree completely.  Update something that actually affects most of your PS3 "gamers," not small things so we can view photos and videos better.

i thought they were finally going to speed up the in game xmb in their new update. aw well.

what are you talking about ingame xmb its generally quite fast >_o, full xmb with the same speed though.

profile take a while but it syncs your trophies with his, to compare and download his recent trophies info.

You think it's fast???

Try comparing it to the Xbox 360 system then tell me that its fast...

i did, compare the blades time and it was slower than ps3. not sure about NXE though.

I'm a brand new PS3 owner, just got it a couple of days ago and while I can't speak to the ingame XMB speed compared to the 360's ingame dash access the ingame XMB is quite sluggish compared to the XMB at bootup.

Also is there a way to get my XMB theme while i'm ingame? It seems to just revert to some default setting. Not sure if that's how it's designed or if there's some option i'm missing.

The NXE's blades (what comes up when you hit the middle button during a game) is very fast.  Capable of pulling up a profile with all achievements and data much faster than can be done with the XMB.  Heck, the trophies/profiles in PSN are so slow I've never actually waited for one to load yet.  I always click on my friend to see, but after 10 seconds go by and still loading, I give up.  The only ones I see are the ones in sigs like on this forum.

 Yes that how the in-game XMB was designed,  its annoying but you get used to it.

Whoa @_@ I thought I was on VGChartz, not bitchfest 2009... Sure it's not that important for us "gamers" but sheesh it's still an update. They could have done nothing at all and you guys wouldn't be bitching and whining like this. They'll get around to it when they get around to it, deal with it!

Sure I think the in-game XMB is slow, but do I just dwell on the fact or do I just hope it will get better eventually? Of all the things in your life that you could apply that passion to, I pity the fact that you'd waste it complaining about a feature that wasn't there to begin with >_>;

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

To paraphrase:  We should accept crap and not want improvement to the console's "main" function.  We should admit it sucks and rely on hope alone.  Also, I pity the fool who is angered by lack of features to a console/service.

Can't wait for this update. This is the kind of stuff I really want on PS3. I hope to see this application continue to grow over time. In the future I would love to see a application for music that allows you to create ringtons, and a video edit tool. It would be awsome if I could take video, pictures, and music from my PS3 make some cool videos and upload them to the internet.

I don't get all the complaining about this not being a gaming update. XMB works fine, and cross game chat is called the phone. PS3 already has the capabilitiy to do invites, it is not supported because dev choose not to. Both the Rainbow Six titles include support for it, and Killzone 2 will also include it. So if you have an issue with this go complain to the lazy developers.
