Forums - Gaming Discussion - Forza 2 Outdone By GT5 Physics

I've spent a lot of time drifting in real life... a LOT of time... and money.

There is not one game available yet in regards to drifting that feels like the real thing or feels authentic or realistic.

People that say GT games are the real driving simulator have got to be kidding. That is NOT how real driving feels, it might be the best you can get using a controller. But do you drive a car with a controller? NO, so the way they set up the driving is not realistic. It doesn't feel anything like the real thing.

About the only thing you can learn about driving in real life from the GT games is the braking points on the real tracks and even then it's only semi accurate.

So lets see:

Forza 3:

  • No compulsary installation
  • Two discs

GT5:

  • Compulsary installation.
  • One disc

So if point A is in contention more, Forza wins this direct comparison.

If point B is in contention more, then one can do an optional install in less time than the PS3 can do a mandatory install, using a similar quantity of disk space and render the 2 disc vs 1 disc issue moot.

Either way, the Xbox 360 does it better.

Furthermore!!! I wonder if having two disks will let people do 4 player local system link play with one copy of the game? In any case does GT5 for all of its awesomeness even have split screen or is that too obvious to include...

Tease.

I think the more impotant question is if I can run a quad screen setup with only 2 copies of the game.

Also, Simbin>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>T10+Polyphony put together.

Lol.  Squilliam, I applaud you.  You are a survivor.  A master of seeing the good side, when all has fallen to ruin around you.

I think RacePro will be better than both.

    But war... war never changes

    Wait for Forza 3!!!!

Gran Turismo 5 will destroy Forza 3!!

Taking into account the worst selling GT game is GT2 with 9.37, you know its a HUGE series. It is graphically superior, better gameplay, more cars/tracks, overall better. Plus there should finally be damage which is nice.

F3 has 400 cars and 100 tracks based on a leaked survey.  I don't think GT5 has that many.

The Simbin Squad is out.  Gee, I hope RacePro proves to be the most realistic of all console racers, so the Forza vs GT crowd eats crow.  People who argue realism in console driving games, don't know what they are arguing about.

I will say Gran Turismo is a GREAT series and deserves respect, and will likely remain the top name.  However, this physics/realism/blah blah blah argument is old.

People, you don't want REALISM!  If you had realism and tried to play the game with a gamepad controller, guess what would be happening.  Once you go over 70 MPH, you would likely run the car into a wall, or flip it, and then complain the handling SUCKS.  And you would have to pay a bunch of money out of your pocket, or hope the insurance covered it.  And, odds are the insurance wouldn't pay, because you were trying to drive a car with a gamepad.  No SANE person does that at all.  Oh, did I add your entire view of your environment was a TV or monitor?

What you want is IMMERSION.  You want to FEEL like you are a top racing driver, and feel like you are on the track.  You want to be challenged by some limitations, but you want to ultimately win.  This immersion requires some physics, but no way you want REAL physics.  You want an approximation that makes for more fun, but not realism.  Realistic physics means that, if you park your virtual car outside, then it will rust.  It means that your parts will wear down over time.  Again, you want immersion, like Nintendogs.  It is an approximation that sides with fun.

So, in this, what people ultimately want is an arcade racer that immerses and fools you into thinking you are driving for real, but no way does it actually end up being for real.

Just my two cents.  And if people want to impose a two cents tax on my posts, then this post is senseless.

    yes it is
