This is sad

What makes it so sad?

He has a point, every PS3 AAA game is getting given away from the moment it is released. GT5P, MGS4, LBP, Resistance 2 have all been bundled from Day 1. Smells of desperation, Sony would never have done that in the past.

bundles r not desperation. they help ppl buy consoles, not to get rid of games............if someone was thinkin of gettin a ps3 he may aswell get the killzone bundle, microsoft also do bundles............its to make the console a more attractive purchase

Thats true....but you make more money with a $60 urchase and a seperate console purchase, hence the definition of a system seller.

MS didnt bundle Gears, Gears 2 (heavily), and Halo 3 when they launched, and they sold massive amounts of 360s. MS made that much more money. To see sony bundling every system seller they got day 1 seems a little wierd cause they shoudl be able to sell PS3s without being bundled, thus making more money.

Maybe they want to inflate sales numbers as much as they can for bragging rights, I dont know.

one thing for sure is that it saves money for gamers.

there was a gears 2 bundle in shops. it came with gears 1 and 2.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Think i might get one, give to my friend and keep the box!

This looks like an excellent deal. KZ2 is essentially free.

At the same time one has to wonder how Sony expects to ever make money when they are giving away all of their best exclusives.

KZ2 is an especially troublesome case as it is considered the most expensive game ever. How will they ever recoup the investment?

Unlike Microsoft Sony does not have a great revenue stream from their install base. The title attach ratio is not great, they get no revenue for the Online service and struggle to make any money on accessories since all of the important ones are already included in the price.

And after all of that - Sony still loses money on every unit sold.

Prediction made on 11/1/2008:

Q4 2008: 27M xbox LTD, 20M PS3 LTD . 2009 sales: 11M xbox,  9M PS3

Hang on one cotton-picking second. Sony's had a price hike in the UK. The prices do not reflect that VAT cut.

I'd have thought anyone with half a brain would prefer these bundles from game in the UK. the reward points would go along way to purchasing Killzone 2 straight after. Not sure the UK are that bothered about "collectable" box art...!? This isnt Japan.

What is stopping retailers adding another game to this bundle?

This is an official bundle with an RRP of £299, not an unofficial retail bundle like the one's you stated.

No doubt, I will buy a ps3 at that time...

I think that games and consoles were immune to the price hike...

who cares if they wouldn't have done this in the past - they are in completely different positions (first vs last).

whether it's desperation or being smart, it's still a good thing for the consumers and bad for the competition.

The UK had a VAT cut before Christmas. The price of the consoles have not changed to reflect this. This means that either the stores or the manufacturers are making more profit now.
