The reason I think clan matches don't allow launchers is that it annoys lots of people. I used the class a lot when I was first mastering the game too. I think the real problem is the assault class not the rocket launcher. If the assault class was banned from a game, you can't do much with a rcoket launcher as a rifleman.
Assault is really an unfair class because they have double the HP, the ability to recover HP quickly and to run very fast and a I hit kill weapon that could take down multiple enemies. As you can see, the class needs gimping one way or the other even though really using it right takes some skill.
You won't want to play a game where everyone uses assault because it's overpowered and there's no tactician. No tactician = very boring game!
