As for The Conduit, can we please wait for the game to be released?

Games should be equally subject to hype and criticism before and after release IMO.

I mean before declaring whether its graphics are good or bad...

That goes against the whole point of releasing screenshots of games in development.

The whole point is to generate excitement as people "ooh" and "ah" over them.  If there's a lot of negativity, it's only because HV put Conduit on a pedastal with their promises.  They've made some hefty claims so naturally there will be a lot more criticism of released material than there would have been otherwise.

If you are ready to declare it either way, please go ahead. As for me, I'll just wait for the release as I always have. I always had doubts about a developer with a lousy track record... nevertheless they impressed me with their attitude and speech so I give them the benefit of doubt.

Im a wii fan and i agree, chronicles of riddick, or splinter cell chaos theory beat any game on wii except maybe mario galaxy

^some sections of chaos theory were phenominal, especially some wall textures.

but on topic i think conduit looks brill, its 100% propriety and makes good use of wii hardware. theres some video blogs from conduit devs on what effects they will use in thier engine. i think it looks good imo

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

This thread seems kind of pointless to me. At the end of the day the graphics - in and of themselves - are not going to sell The Conduit to anyone, nor Killzone 2 for that matter.

It's all about the gameplay. If they are fun to play then they will sell. People appreciate good graphics, of course and they may enhance sales for both games but unless the gameplay rocks it really doesn't matter what they look like. Look at Lair's sales.

Personally, as long as the Conduit gives come fun run and gun action with IR aiming, I'm getting it. I couldn't care less how it compares to Halo graphically.

Considering the graphics (more than any other factor) have been getting ultra hyped for about a year now from the moment HV released that tech demo, I don't know how anyone could possibly say that with a straight face.

QFT. Some people are just falling back to a more easily defendable position. The Conduit doesn't look bad, but it isn't nearly as good-looking as many XBOX games. Also, what happened to the Wii having similar architecture to the GC, therefore making it easier to max out? When the Wiis specs were revealed, that's what people used to say. Now it's just "wait for developers to get a hang of it".

@WoW - I'm as happy as anyone that someone is actually trying to push the Wii graphically.  I'm sick of lazy development, period.  But how it compares to any other FPS isn't important to me.  If it was, I'd buy a 360 FPS instead but I won't cause I find dual analog far inferior control-wise.

@im_sneaky - Nonsense.   Nor do I understand why people on this site even care.  Does it make a difference?  Will that impacts how it sells?  I guarantee you it will not.  Nor will graphics help Killzone 2 if the game is merely 'good'.   While it looks great for a Wii game and I commend HVS for that, ultimately whether or not I buy it will depend on how fun it is to play.   But I do want a fun, fast paced FPS for Wii.   Epic could port Unreal 2004 to Wii and I'd buy it over UTIII on 360 anyday.

Wow this is pathetic, the conduit looks 10x better than Halo. You guys are all thinking back to how you "thought" halo looked when you first got it.

Well, firstly - remember that if you want to compare it to the XB (power wise) you have to select a XB game from its 2nd/3rd year. Using a 4th/5th year XB games gives a flawed perspective.

I thought one of the advantages of the Wii was it's very GC-like architecture, so that devs could easiely learn to tap it's power based on their knowledge from the GC, no?

Unless I'm missing something , from my understanding the Wii was never marketed as a console with any graphical capabilities. Is this just buyers remoarse that the Wii isn't outputing high end graphics ?

This is true but there are two problems.

1. Few developers really pushed the GC so you don't much carryover to the Wii.

2. Few publishers want to push the Wii because they feel they can pay for cheap and still get huge sales.

I think we can safely throw this theory out as most 3rd party Wii games don't even look as good as the good GC games.

Do we even know if GC was pushed to max?
