Only time I dislike it is when there is 5 threads on one game on front page, but that's why I love official threads it cleans those out! Other then that I love hyping ^_^

Well my view of it is 360-only owners get pissed that there really are HD games they wont be able to play unless they own both HD consoles.

Thus they feel it to be a moral sin. theres a Vice versa in there somewhere aswell.

Overall there is nothing wrong with any owner of any console hyping a exclusive title coming to there console(s).

For example me with Versus obviously.

But i gotta admit Killzone 2's hype is starting to becoming out of hand lol, i see it everywhere i go, even in my local Gamestop AND walmart. :P

theres nothing wrong, but it gets annoying when people say a game fails because it doesnt have killzone 2 graphics

I find it weird that great ps3 games just don't sell well. I own gears and uncharted and both games are ace. However, uncharted didn't get half the recognition it deserved.

Heavenly sword was a unique must experience game and it was dumbed down to mediocre reviews and then the bad sales followed.

Resistance 2 is like playing 1st person gears with a hint of left4dead with the addition of extra huge bosses and a seperate co-op online mode. Yet again, sales aren't what they should be.

I believe, hype is good as long as the product can live upto it. Other then haze and lair, every other game which was hyped has done exactly what it should, but the press downplayed it, Sony forgot to advertise it and the ps3 owners forgot to buy it!

I personaly dislike this form of hype

There is always a group of very aggresive and vocal PS3 fanboys hyping their games, they are getting ridicilous, by implying that everyone that does not appreciate such title has no taste, remember MGS 4 hype (Great game but not for everyone?)

It gets ridicilous with every forum being spammed with how great will KZ2 be or how awesome will be impact of FF XIII in Japan, or the amount of threads around LBP release.

Many games are hyped (Lair , Haze) and more recently R2 (it sold decent, but just look at the threads from september/october) but they failed to deliver in terms of sales, and people have to eat crow.

I have to say PS3 fans are very vocal (and with majority thats actually quite a good thing) but some of them are pushing it.

Maybe Killzone 2 will get a midnight TV launch and some Game Fuel.

What's wrong with hyping games? It depends on the level of hype. I'm going to be VGC specific and not talk about outside of our little world:

1. When something starts getting too much hype, it's threads start cluttering the Hot Topics. Official threads help this out but don't completely fix the issue.

2. A lot of people on here judge quality based on hype, and throw a hissy fit about corrupt reviewers when the uber hyped game they wanted to do so well critically got shitted upon or wasn't praised as Christ-like. Hissy fits are annoying.

3. The hype for games sometimes translates into unrealistic sales hype, and then again, hissy fits galore when sales are average occurs. Again, hissy fits are annoying.

4. More hissy fits occur when a third party exclusive goes multiplatform, and those are the worst hissy fits of them all.

5. All of the above cases that cause hissy fits then causes rival console owners to poke them with sticks to antagonize them, which is only entertaining for five minutes. Unfortunately it lasts much much longer than that. It causes damage control hissy fits which are basically the "good offense is the best defense" of hissy fits.

In a nutshell, there is hype and then there is hype that better deliver or the shitstorm will follow. Heavy Rain has hype. Infamous has hype. Motorstorm Pacific Rift had hype. SOCOM Confrontation had hype. Little Big Planet had shitstorm brewing hype. Resistance 2 had shitstorm brewing hype. Killzone 2 has shitstorm brewing hype. Uncharted 2 is beginning it's transformation from hype to shitstorm brewing hype. One day in the far off future when the developers get around to making them, FF 13 Versus and GT5 will both have shitstorm brewing hype.

It doesn't help that most of the hype is presented in an absolute form. The only words I don't see in the vocabulary of some PS3 fans on here are "I think", "in my opinion", and "maybe".

Before someone gives me the obvious answer of "But all fanboys do this shit", yes I know they do. This topic asked about PS3 owners though so I stuck with that.

i don't C anything wrong with it i don't mind wen other people hype up there consoles game maybe since the ps3 is down ATM in HW sales others want the PS brand to go down all together and by the ps3 having games to hype about it doesn't look like that will ever happen
