From the companies, sure. From the fanbase? No. Part of the problem is that its taken so damn long to release. Many were expecting it to launch early last year. We're running now on nearly 2 years of "wait till KZ2" (which started, at the latest, at E3 2007).

I've never paid any attention to their video game reviews. However, I'm a big music fan, and over the years I formed the opinion that I doubt they even listen to the albums they review. In fact, I think there was a controversy a couple years back about one review being factually inaccurate. I don't know if the same staff does music/video games though.

Edit:  I remember now...it was someone who actually wrote for the magazine who admitted he wrote reviews without listening to the whole album... (again, may not be related to the video game "staff").

You have to realize that you can replace SONY and KZ2 with any of the three companies and game on their console about to be released or was released. It was the same for GTA4, Halo 3, Gears 2, Mario Galaxy, etc.

 

 

No.... I really can't. The only other game that had this kind of hype surrounding it was MGS4, and even that pales in comaprison to KZ2.

wtf? im sorry but you have to have had cotton in your ears for the last few years than.

If I remember correctly Gear's hype came with the chant "Chain Saw, Chain Saw"

Gears 2 was dubbed the return of the chainsaw

Zelda:TP was declared better than OoT.

Halo was somehow hailed as the best shooter in existance.

I could go on.

I'm sorry but if you haven;t noticed any of this than I think you dont understand what hype is.

 

That might all be true (I never heard the TP one), but none of those games were hyped to be the second coming of Christ. (Third, rather. LPB was the second coming.)

Some fanboys truly believe that Killzone will end the 360. Visit n4g.com and you'll see what I'm talking about.

ROFFLE 50 cent got a better score.

Maybe that should have been hyped as the Second Coming instead.
