Do you mind if a game isn't localized for your native language? Have you ever gave up of game because you can't understand the english?

I'm not european, but not only I don't mind, I don't even like playing games in other than English. I hate playing games in Spanish, and it pissses me off when PC games automatically set the language to the system lang.

And I want the voices in the original game language, so that means I like Japanese games with voices in Japanese

I always play games in English, even when they're translated... The translations are usually lousy, and even if they weren't people here are used to watching subtitled movies etc.

Germans, Spanish, French and Italians may give you a different answer as they're used to dubbed movies and having all games translated.

I'm Dutch... we don't dub movies and as such, I will always stick with English. A Dutch option is hardly ever provided but even when it is, I stick to English.

Im portuguese, and i don't mind playing in English. Even in movies i usually put english subtitles, it keeps my english fluent.

Very rare games are translated to finnish. Nowadays some Sony's game are translated to finnish. Personally I of course use subtitles in my own native language if they exist but I can't understand dubbing. Once when I was in germany on holiday I put tv on and started to watch Simpsons in german language....It was awful.

Yeah, I think that's pretty much the opinion of everyone in Europe other than the four countries I listed above...

Meh I don't care. Since many shooters here are banned or cutted, I always play the English version.
But I admit I'm most of the time too lazy to read descriptions in RPGs..... Mass Effect comes in my mind, Fallout 3 fortunately not so much

I need to put my system language on english to be able to play ratchet and clank and resistance in english. Ratchet might be better in dutch because of the jokes, but i'm not going to play resistance in dutch.

I would like to be able to choose for myself.
It would be awesome playing MGS4 in Japanese with English subtitles.

I refused to buy localised version on several occasions due to shitty quality of translations several time so it's completly other way for me :) Not to mention cheap soap opera "stars" they use as voice actors in Polish versions which often have voice that make brick wall looking energetic and full of emotion :D

But it also depends on orginal language for game so my ideal situations are:

for english games - english voice + english subs

for japanise - japanise voices + english/polish subs

for rest of world - english or Polish doesn't really matter :)
