I'd get one now. It's a great deal and there is no guarantee when the next price drop will happen for the PS3, especially for $350. Having the emotion engine will be a complete bonus as well in case you want to have backwards compatibility that works more reliably.

There are good games coming out this year, and then great games coming out early next year. In the meantime, you could download some of the demos on the PSN and get a feel for some of the other games out there. You may be shocked and surprised if you find one that you weren't thinking much of and be surprised by how good it is. Lair looks like it will be a great game, and regardless of what the reviewers say of the game, I'll give it a rent and see how I enjoy it. I'm not going to go and rattle off a bunch of games that I don't know if you would like them or not, so just check out gamespot or ign and see what is in development and coming out this year to see if you should make the plunge or not.

Having blu-ray of course is a plus and not the reason why I bought mine. But it is a nice added bonus. But in the future someday you'll have a HDTV, so at least you'd have the PS3 whenever you came to time to get the HDTV.

My pokemon brings all the nerds to the yard. And they're like, "You wanna trade cards?" Damn right, I wanna trade cards. I'll trade this, but not my charizard.

Well i would put money on the price dropping in March that was when it dropped for PS1 and PS2 during its first year out so it might drop earlier like before Christmas but Sony wouldnt tell you even if they knew.

End of 2014 Hardware Predictions (03/03/14)

Xbox One: 7-10 million

Wii U: 8-9 million (Changed 01/04/2014 from 7-9 --> 8-9 million)

@stonj

Heavenly sword is already considered better than god of war. Why do you think it will flop? And warhawk maight be a truly good online game(that brings a headset), if those to games dont flop I will luagh at you.

Those two games are not worth it in alot of peoples books

That can be said of literally any game out there. Everything from Halo to Resident Evil is not loved by everyone on the planet....

I would get one now cause of the Blu Ray deal till September and if you wait till next year, you'll likely miss out on most of the great games coming out in the next few months:

Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Unreal Tournament III, Ratchet and Clank: ToD, GT 5 Prologue, Eye of Judgment, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Socom: Confronation, Wipeout HD, Haze...

Got everything from Shooters to racers to action to adventure.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

 Well, it's not 350... sales tax is unescapeable... Its $394 shipped to my door -- basically $400 bucks.  Buy.com is probably where I'd get one if the price dropped as I can almost always find a $10 coupon plus free shipping.  If not, there is always somebody -- amazon for instance, running a free shipping deal where I won't get hit with tax.  That's why I mentioned the 399 price point.

I've already downloaded the release list and Lair is really the only one that absolutely insterests me this fall.  GT5 prologue certainly is piquing my interest as well but it's not the full game just yet.  The God of War series didn't do it for me on the PS2 so I'm hesitant that HS will appeal as I'm hearing it's like GoW.

I do have a 360 now so anything that is dual platform I can already get so it's really down to exclusives.

On the emotion engine, I'll say again, that I won't be playing backward compatible.  It just isn't that important to me and frankly, I'd rather have the latest generation hardware.

If I was fairly certain that the 80 gig sku will be the standard next march and be 399, I'd step aside now but I'm not so sure and I hate missing out on an opportunity.

@ CK -- just out of curiosity, how many of the games below do you think will have downloadable demos?  I can damn near live on Xbox 360 demos as they just keep coming.  If there were a lot of downloadable free demos, I'd be hooked pretty quick, lol.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

Well, no price cut is ever guaranteed. Get it now, and you get 150 credit and the 5 free blu-ray movies ......

Or you could wait. I don't regret purchasing my PS3.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

Same i didnt think twice about dropping £400($800) on a PS3 but i was iffy about dropping £100($200) on a DS which i got in the end for FFIII,DQ9,FFIV,ASH and others and we dont even get the free Blu-ray offer and i bought before all the good deals came in and i still dont regret it but its all about the games in the end.

Sadly for me, Amazon charges me tax, so I rarely buy something from them because of that. Overstock.com and Buy.com have been good to me though and I cannot complain about them one bit.

Anyways, it's your choice like you said and I won't twist your arm. You won't really get it any cheaper then if the price does drop down to $399.99 like most assume will happen either this xmas or march of next year. So basically, if all happens like we think, you wouldn't pay any less then you can get it now with that deal from Sony with the credit card. But, if the price drop doesn't come through until say early summer of next year, you could likely find yourself paying more for a PS3 if you have to get one in march when all those great games come out.

For myself, the main reason why I bought a PS3 when I did was because of the news that Socom Confrontation was coming out and then the price cut on the 60gb version. I didn't expect the prices to drop any further the rest of this year (and hoping it still comes out this year) just so I have it and I can enjoy some of the games that come out from now until then that interest me. Like you, I do have a 360 as well and didn't really have to buy it then, but with the free movies (some I'll keep, couple I may ebay for some free money) it was worth it and I don't regret it one bit.
