PS2 rip-off Wii Remote to be unveiled at Leipzig Gaming Convention

It was bound to happen. At this years Leipzig Gaming Convention, In2Games are all set to unveil its very own motion-sensing peripheral for the PS2.

CEO of In2Games Elliot Myers said, “The Realplay range of games is aimed squarely at those PS2 owners who want to play wireless motion-sensing games without needing to splash out on a new console.” In other words, the Wii’s making loads of cash, and we fancy a slice of the action.

With 6 games to be released in time for Christmas at £29.99 – featuring Tennis (oh that’s new), Pool, Golf, Racing, Bowling, and something called Puzzlesphere – the potentials there for the PS2 to nab a chunk of those gamers who either don’t want to shell out for the real thing, or simply can’t get a hold of the still difficult to obtain Wii console.

Whether these titles will prove to be even half as enjoyable as what those Wii owners have been enthralling themselves with for the last 6 months remains to be seen, but it’s pretty blatant where the idea has come from. Right, In2Games?

Those people that think they're perfect give a bad reputation to us who are...

"With the DS, it's fair to say that Nintendo stepped out of the technical race and went for a feature differentiation with the touch screen, but I fear that it won't have a lasting impact beyond that of a gimmick - so the long-lasting appeal of the platform is at peril as a direct result of that." - Phil Harrison, Sony

Already been posted and I'd hardly say it's the PS2 doing it as it's a 3rd party.

To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

"PS2" is not some body planning to rip off the Wii...it's just a 3rd party peripheral...woohoo...

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Probably wont do well, but who knows? That doesn't seem like it will steal any of the wiis thunder.

Bet with OriGin: Within 1 year Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be ahead of Mario Kart Wii (when aligning the one whole year from each region). 2 week ban from Vgchartz for the loser. Edit: Darn! Looks like OriGin will win.

but is it not a peripheral for the ps2 that is the same as the wii's

If you want to be pedantic then you'd be right saying it's not Sony - it's just a third party.

dont think so, if they get it out at christmas then by then the Wii will probably have a userbase of 18 million with plenty of other decent games out.  This would have to sell a lot of copies for developers to think lets develop it for that instead, they may get a couple of crappy ports somewhere down the line but they didn't do the Wii any service did they.

The fact that it is 5 different controllers makes this the worst way to bring motion controls to a console. There are so many problems with the way they are doing this...for instance the fact that it is a 3rd Party Peripheral and Each of the games are sold seperately. I don't think very many people are going to fall for this.
