You just suck.  I didn't die once!

Uncharted is so awesome.

Let's get one thing clear, I'm not against hard games. I love Megaman 9, the Last guy, ect ect. It's that this is the wrong kind of difficulty for this kind of game.

Megaman 9 has no immersion. You are a blue blob of pixels tasked with getting through an obstacle course that is trying your reflexes, memorization, timing and pattern recognition. The difficulty IS the game in the case of Megaman 9, or Last Guy. And the reward is the conquering of the challenge.

In Uncharted or Resistance 2 the creators goal is to immerse you and get you to react. They create atmosphere skillfully with the use of sound, and graphics. They use characters and story to draw you in. Then they set the scene full of tension and let you work through that tension and resolve it by shooting a bunch of guys in the face and jumping over stuff and you achieve release from the tension by success and the completion of the scene, the story, the act which is also the reward. But the instant it becomes a trial and error instant death game of memorization and patience then everything is destroyed. The mood is gone, the atmosphere is lost in the realization that you are now in an obstacle course, that will reset with every failure, and the goal is no longer to find the lost treasure and save the damsel, it's to successfully get your group of polygons past their group of polygons by memorizing locations, times of appearance, order in which they must be killed, and do so through dieing, reseting the set pieces (which are now no longer church pews and ancient pillars so much as blocks that impede projectile death), and trying again this time with some slight adjustment. After your success you are no longer part of the story, you're part of a game and you have to try and re-immerse yourself in the world.

That's not to say difficulty is bad, because that's wrong too. Difficulty is a must or the situation has no tension. You have to feel mortal or you're not invested in the same way. But trial and error difficulty just contradicts the goals the makers are trying to achieve.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

Did you try rolling to avoid getting auto-killed by the snipers/desert eagles? That's how I dealt with them in the Church (although it took me like 6 tries to get it right...).

I agree that the ending 'boss fight' is just plain stupid.

On normal mode you should've been able to find plenty of sniper ammo. Just use that to take out the guys with magnums.

In the church, they have extra sniper ammo on the left side near the front.

What difficulty did you try it on. Try the Hardest Difficulty - That's when I realized man this is a hard game. Other than that it was an easy game. It's just about tactics. I like games like that. Sure I get pissed and frustrated, but change of tactics makes it alot easier :D

Yeah, the church especially was sooooo annoying, with all the red laser sights popping up all over the place

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

Just use the sniper to kill the laser sight guys, that's what I did and it didn't feel much harder than what you expected from the game progression.

As much as I would love to deny the existence of those last four levels, I can't. Oh god, those were awful. If the first 17 weren't so amazing, I would have hated Uncharted. As it stands, I think Uncharted is incredible.

Zombies? Seriously? Underground? In a cave? And don't get me started on that boss battle... Why can so few developers get a final boss right? I think they all need to play MGS4. BioShock's boss sucked, Uncharted's boss sucked, Oblivion's "boss" sucked, R2's boss sucked (going through my favourite games this gen with final boss battles).

I think I'm one of the few people that actually LOVED the last levels of the game. I thought they were absolutely brilliant ^^ The pacing of the game in the very beginning focused more on exploration and basics of combat, and towards the end, they pushed you into survival mode, forcing you to get off your ass so to say. I thought the run and gun mechanics were just amazing, and I honestly didn't have too much problem in the church :x I really liked it actually, I didn't have time to just stick my head out and correct the shot and what not, I had to move like a muthafucka :D. Fire, move, roll, cover, fire, move etc etc. It was exhilarating ^^

My general problem with games that give you regenerating health, is that you just take your shots, and diddle around till your at max life. It makes games like gears of war to easy in my opinion. The one hit kill's weren't exactly un-seen, the snipers had to bead you, and the grenadiers were so inaccurate it's not even funny xD However if you weren't putting on your A game, they would punish you. I dunno, I really liked it!

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

Heh, maybe it's only me, but at the final boss I instantly knew what to do... Maybe I've just played to many Naughty Dog games, I found it quite enjoyable.
