Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Once again, MS Excels at customer service.

SMcc - You do realize new 360's do not fail, right? Since late 07, they've been very reliable. Fans of other systems unfortunately like to bring up the past (just like the 4 year lifespan of the Xbox equating to the fact that the next Xbox is supposed to release this year).

Here's the thing with this article: Most other companies have the same protocol. Awhile ago, one of my credit cards I used for Ebay expired, and Ebay couldn't get their money quick enough. What'd they do? Ban my high-volume account of 4 years (that I worked for to have a great 99% feedback rating), despite the fact I paid the outstanding bills!

So it's not just MS. There are plenty of horror stories out there for every subscription service. The weakness with MS and XBL is that most users are savy enough to know that if they don't get their way, they can post on a blog or gaming forum and complain till something changes. With close to 20 million XBL users, this stuff is bound to happen.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

So is this a common thing or what? Cos im getting live soon, and i wanna know if its gonna be a lot of hassle

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

I use a Yahoo email account with live. Doesn't have to be Hotmail.

I used to own a 360, and it's partially for reasons like this I no longer do. Furthermore, to lose everything acssociated with my gamer-tag again - it happened to me during a period of inactivity between my transition from Xbox to the 360 - totally nullifies the possibilty of me buying their next console.

Dumb title for the thread. This has nothing to do with customer service. Its a technical issue...

Hope they stop doing that...deactivating accounts for inactivity.

I like how a non 360 owner feels the need to post this

No, a non 360 owner wouldn't post it and hope more 360 owners would go unaware of this information and lose their accounts :P A 360 owner would post this trying to warn fellow gamers to be carefull.

I remember when I got bored of Halo 2 and stopped using xboxlive I cancelled the account, then a few months later when I wanted to re-activate my account I found that my xbox wouldn't connect to the internet at all, nothing would work. Support was no help, so I was like "screw it, just won't play xbox anymore". A few months later I get a bill for XboxLive gold. and I'm like "what the fuck is a gold subscription?" (I hadn't bought the new 360 xbox) well I won't tell you all the rest of the details but lets just say canceling that that new Gold account that I had been "bumped up to" was a bitch.

Thank you useless support :)

You do realize that you were basically a 'gold' member in order to play Halo 2 over Live. You have always had to pay to play over Live and they started calling it a 'gold' membership when the 360 launched. Seems wierd for them to start back billing you though. You probably used a 12 month card to start and account and then the 12 months ran up, at which point they started charging you.

Every negative article posted here, be it anti-Sony, anti-Nintendo, or anti-MS, is posted by a non-owner of that console.  This is nothing new.   These negative threads seem to count for about half of new treads at VGC these days.   It is just another way of console bashing while "Just reporting the news".

It gets tiresome.
