Forums - General Discussion - Qualifications needed for Sales Job?

Im 20 yrs old with 1 yr sales experience @ Circuit City & some College education. My ideal job right now would be to work for a phone company (preferably T-Mobile) as a sales associate, but for some reason I cant even get an interview there. I was wondering if u guys have any tips or previous experience that could help me on my journey. Thanks in advance!

I didn't even realize you needed anything for those jobs but a heartbeat and the willingness to show up. I suppose you could keep sending resumes every month and hope for the best. You can call the HR department directly to show them you're interested in the job. If you do manage to score an interview, then offer sexual services to your interviewer. It works every time.

If it's anything like the U.K. then that's pretty much all you need. Though you know selling phones isn't the most fun in the world unless you get a fairly relaxed employer. I'm assuming they pay commission in the U.S. like they do in the U.K. With the ecomony slowing down you probably have some fairly hot competition :)

Yes

yes hourly + commission

I would think they wouldn't need much qualifications, just probably some experience in sales.

In britain i would have thought having all the key skill would be enough for a job like that....

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

I meet all the qualifications but this economy is killing me!

Alot of my friends have similar jobs , the most valauable things you could have is experience in a customer service enviroment and evidence of good sales/communication skills. I don't think qualification should be an issue unless increased competition has raised the standard.

You have to bug the ish out of people.

go in, apply, go in the day after you turn in your app. Keep doing that to talk to the manager to get an interview.

You probably just turned in the app and never called or went back in huh.
