Ah, this fetishization of the score bothers me. Fie on it!

MaxwellGT2000 - "Does the amount of times you beat it count towards how hardcore you are?"

Wii Friend Code - 5882 9717 7391 0918 (PM me if you add me), PSN - MaxwellGT2000, XBL - BlkKniteCecil, MaxwellGT2000

hm, that could be fun, i got a lot of Wii games, mostly new ones so i could do some reviews but my writing skills are horrible :P

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

^^Might not want to say that when you're applying for a writing position...

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Tag, courtesy of fkusumot: "Why do most of the PS3 fanboys have avatars that looks totally pissed?"
"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

It would be fun to give it a crack, though as it stands now, I could only review PC titles.

I'll admit I don't really get your third question.

I apologize, and will do my best to clarify.

What I mean is that we would talk about what a game is about, dissecting it in a way that echoes cinematic and literary criticism. Most video game reviews discuss plot and music and so forth, maybe a charater or two, but they rarely dip into what a game is about on the whole, the subjects that it tackles or the way that it interacts with the player. A critical analysis of Wii Sports would be fascinating and no less deep than a critical analysis of Final Fantasy IV DS or even Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, but each of them would be very different because each game sets out to and accomplishes very different things.

These are consumer reviews, meant to inform people whether or not the game is worth a purchase.  Frankly most cinematic/literary criticism doesn't do that job and is just pretentious.

Oof. That's an argument for another day... but all right, never mind, then.

I didn't expect something in line with how Ebert reviews movies to be rejected out of hand, though.

Actually, I've had time to think this over, and frankly, sir, that's a load of bull. Most cinematic criticism comes in the form of consumer reviews, and that does nothing but tell people if a movie is worth watching. It just operates according to a critical standard that actually involves criticism, instead of a categorical statement of quality that pretends to something as ludicrous as an objective perspective.

I find your statement ridiculous and worrisome.

Does it matter how long you have been a member of the site? I am an aspiring writer and I have always contemplated starting out as a reviewer. I will send in one or two reviews if you have no objections. I have a fully backwards compatible PS3 so I can do games from any generation of playstation. A Wii and by extension a gamecube. And a PSP. I will acquire a ds shortly.

No, that doesn't matter. Obviously it helps if you're already known on the site, but the only thing that really matters is whether you're a good reviewer.

So let the reviews come!
