Forums - Gaming Discussion - Your gaming skills fail you when someone is watching?

Honestly, i'm pretty good at R2, i'll usually be among the top 5, when i'm not in first place.

Then my cousin comes into my house and i don't know why, i start failing hard. Not only that, but even my semper fi PS3 starts failing me, crashing when loading the games and refusing to turn off, all of this seems to get better when he goes away though.

I have already noticed this at Warhawk, people from the league know i'm not bad, but when someone gets in my room and start looking at the TV i start failing again >.<

So, what happens when someone is watching you play? games :)

The local anime/general geekiness club was having a minor gaming event, and I was demonstrating to couple of friends why God Hand is the best game ever. The first time through the game I beat the final boss on the second try, but with people watching it took me four times. ;____;

Fortunately everyone loved the ending enough to forget about embarrasing things like that. ^^

No, because I grew up playing games in the arcades where there were friends to talk to and at times people trying to put you off if you were particulaly good at a game.
Therefore I can easily play games whilst having a conversation or with other things going on around me, but my son and his friends don't seem to be able to play without distraction and apart from a few shouts when they win or are laughing there isn't much communication during gameplay.

I actually seem to perform better in video-games. Much to my girlfriend's annoyance.

"Ey' Cassie! I'm sucking at Halo 3! Come watch for a second so we can win this capture the flag round!"

Yeaaah....

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

Maybe it is just because you are not used to be with other people?

No I'm joking, I guess this is a common phenomenon. I haven't noticed this for me though, I grew up playing platformers together with a friend of mine, I tried to beat the level and when I couldn't do it he tried and vice-versa, and we commented on how to do things and tried to help each other.

Actually, those are still my best gaming memories, it is damn great to play a single player game together with a friend, enjoying the story together and stuff.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

For me, it depends on who is watching.

If it is my wife (who I *want* to show off to) I fail utterly.

If it is my daughter's boyfriend (who I *need* to show off to) somehow everything comes together and I do better than I ever have before.

Strange but true. Exactly the same happens when I am playing golf.

Your cousin is the devil?

Just guessing. :P

Clearly, in fact I think you should smack him in the head with a bible and have a priest start yelling at him....it should work and solve your problem!
