Forums - Gaming Discussion - Mechwarrior-clone released to the public for FREE today

I posted about this a few weeks ago that it was coming out, and it released today.

As of today, at InstantAction.com, Lore: Aftermath is open to public users. Although there is some optional free content (such as a mech-customizer), the rest of the game is 100% free - all maps, infinite games, hosting privledges, ect.

If you grew up playing Mechwarrior or Earthsiege, you will REALLY like this game, as it stays true to the oldies. Currently, the game is focused on 8 players (but may expand in the future).

My gamer tag on InstantAction is PandaXpress, so add me and lets play!

Oh God robot battle simulators

Please, sir, tell me if it takes a lot of machine to run

Are you referring to PC specs?

No. All the games they have are very minimal specifications to run (heck, I can't run some flash-based games as good as Lore).

As per the developers, you need a computer with something can support DirectX 9, but it should run on lesser systems, if need be.

The game isn't large either - it'll take a few minutes to load up your first game, but after you've done that, it loads the content from a temporary directory, so getting into the game is reduced to 5-10 seconds.

What does membership at their site entail? I am wary and less than eager to join even more websites.

Could you define that?

All you do is register at the site (takes less time than it did to sign up at VGC), and download a ~300kb plugin that allows you to run the IA interface on their website.

That's about it. You'll need to put in a valid email for an (optional) confirmation, but you don't have to confirm it to get into any and all games. You'll get an Emailed newsletter every week or so with news about the updates to the website, but that's it.

Mecharriors games;...hmm the only one that I enjoyed so far was ZoE....

umh.... you need to write a review on this :p

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

Ha. I should, but I may be a little too biased on it :-p

Has anyone else played it? If you can get in on a good team-based match, it's awesome fun. I haven't got the (paid) ability to build a custom mech, but I should in the near future.

There are tons of great things coming in the near future for the game, which is going to make it killer. As always, it's free, and is pretty easy to get into a match of!
