Forums - Sony Discussion - Kaz says Little Big Planet sold 1.3 million-- oh noes! Did I win my bet?

1.3 million copies and only 17,000 hours of playtime? That's very little playtime per copy. Must be a mistake.

Those 300000 created levels takes around 17000 hours to play trough.

@Seece: Weren't you able to have a PSN account with the PSP too?
Btw. related to that 17M PSN accounts, i think i just recently read some news article, which said that Iwata said there being 18 million Wiis online worldwide.

Don't know anything about the PSP, if you can make PSN accounts on the PSP then I guess its much more likely they hit the figure stated.

"LittleBigPlanet sales, which Kaz says now total 1.3 million worldwide"

Clearly not just talking about people going online, it says sales specifically.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

If this is true how did VGchartz get it so wrong? I mean this isn't a little discrepency its 500k

it's straight from the OP, which comes from Kotaku, which comes straight from the president's mouth that everyone heard at Sony's conference.

well, IGN has it as a more ambiguous quote though :)

oh well, I'm enjoying my copy of LBP, all that matters to me ^^

Do the financial reports and such also include game sales?

It sold over 300k in UK alone according to GFK. So 1.3 million figure is old one.

Firstly... wasn't it 200k in the UK? (I could be wrong)

secondly, the UK is generally thought to be 10% of the market, but that has been increasing, and some games appeal more to certain markets than others (for instance GTA sells better here comparatively than the USA)

And the 17,000 hours must only be online hours, because otherwise that is a miniscule amount, for reference, Wii Music has exceeded that figure on the UK Nintendo channel... which is counting only 2,800 people.

they don't have to, but nintendo does.  Microsoft and Sony tend to release the info for the ones that did well.

there was that source that djmeister posted earlier that had LBP> than MGS4 in the UK, i thought it was close to 400k but i think the source was disputed.

but yea LBP got the 200k award for the UK and that is official.
