I thought I heard somebody was bringing TV's that did 3D without the glasses, but I don't know how accurate that is (definitely rumor at this point I think).

That's LG. It's in their Harrods store.

I've seen it. It's alright, but you've gotta be a fair distance for it to look half decent. Early tech. I'm sure it'll get better. It's also a special program running on PC that makes it all work. Lad in the store just told me he has to turn the PC on every morning and run the program and that's all he knew about it anyway.

Sony CES Keynote is soon, I think? Maybe more news on this then?

hopefully,,,I don't know why they aren't revealing anything about the 3D PS3.

Maybe Saturday? ( http://www.sony.com/ces/schedule/day3.php )

I thought I heard somebody was bringing TV's that did 3D without the glasses, but I don't know how accurate that is (definitely rumor at this point I think).

that ll be freakin cool but it would take a longgg time to take off.

hopefully this will work with regular TVs.If it does indeed work on regular TVs ,sony could verywell update the PS3 firmware with a 3D update and we could enjoy it much sooner than expected.

That would require a whole lot of graphics processing power though...because many objects would have to be rendered twice.

This will be really badass if it doesn't require additional/new hardware other than the glasses.

I googled it and some articles say 3D gaming coming to PS3 in 2009?

@Epsilon, well they did use two Sony created titles, and they did pick racing games. But if Sony figured out a way to make the Cell chip dedicate some resources to a dual projected image, well kudo's to them :P

Its kind of a niche market. There's a lot of people that get motion sickness from the modern 3D tech, like 3D monitors. I doubt its viable enough to mass market.

edit - Last I understood on how the tech works, half of the tech is in the actual panel of the monitor itself. Unless they figured out a different way, you'll need a pricey monitor to make it happen.

Oh boy, and I thought the PS3 was capable of handling 4D games!

It is! The 4th dimension is time. As long as it takes time to play a 3D game, you're actually playing a 4D game ;)

wow thatd be awesome!!! tho i hope u dun get motion sickness. i had a major motion sickness a few weeks ago playing CoD4 XD

Is this gonna work on the ps3?

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

I figure, if the tech is in the TV itself, then it could become mainstream real quickly. They just pack this onto they're HD tv lineup, and were golden. My roomate just purchased a 120MHz tv (which is so trippy btw @_@), but he didn't buy it for that reason, it happened to be bundled with a PS3 and had an absolutely fantastic PQ. Tech that he didn't necessarily need, but it came with. As long as they put this technology in TV's with good PQ for a reasonable price, the adoption will come naturally.
