Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Epic: Xbox 360 version of UT 3 could have less content than PS3 version...

To be honest ck, I used to respect Epic, but now I really do think they're a bunch of douches. But my opinion of them started dropping pretty steeply in 2003 long before we knew about the 360.

Wow, everyone here is acting like a douche. How ironic.

No offense to those of you being douches, I just thought the irony was hilarious.

they had to trim it, but yea they are talking about one gigantic game. let's see if it delivers. seems to me that mass effect is the bar for big epic games this gen.

I was thinking this same thing until I heard the main game is basically 20 hours ish and you can get more hours from sidequests and stuff.

I read a single playthrough is 20-30 hours of pure plot and another 20-30 of extra stuff.  Of course, since the game experience can be changed almost entirely every single time you play by making different choices, the replay value is huge.

Yup, I agree with ckmlb. People will endorse Ubisoft's complaint (only beaten by EA in crapiness), but they brush off what Epic says, even though the studio consistently releases undeniably top-notch games.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I would like to go on record as to say that I've always thought Mark Reign was a giant ass, and that was back before this generation started.

I didn't start losing respect for Epic until this generation, and it has more to do with how they are treating 3rd party developers. I totally agree that they do make good games, but as a game engine developer they are not that great, good engine, bad suport.

I as well have not been a fan of Epic and Rein since long before this (around 2004 is when I really started disliking them as a company).

As far as the Ubisoft comment, you can check for yourself. I never endorsed it. I simply completely ignored it because I rarely care about Ubisoft, their games (Beyond Good and Evil being a notable exception), or what they say. I came to comment on this topic because I saw it was about Epic, who I strongly dislike and disapprove of. I think they are a sellout company and I don't like their attitude or Rein. So please don't call me a hypocrite when I have done nothing of the sort.

Good for Blu-Ray.

It(')s Blu-ray... God doesnt don't people look at correct spelling anymore... the R is lowercase.

Anyways, DVD is like 10 years old now. How old was VHS when it was phased out?

Usually if you are going to yell at people over minute spelling errors it is a good idea to at least put a little effort into your own spelling.

I guess we'll have to wait for the game to be released to see what happens. Apparently Microsoft is now very open to the type of mods and other content that Unreal Tournament 3 will have. Also I'm surprised they don't simply include a 2nd dvd with additional levels and allow people to install the additional ones they want to play online. In my experience it's rare that people play more than 10 or 20 different maps in UT.

Haha yeah really, thread over. Just toss in a 2nd DVD if it's really so important.

Blu Ray is a nicety, sure, but it's not really needed for his generation. For example, I just found out Heavenly Sword is using 10GB for uncompressed audio. I mean it's like these Sony devs are just looking for ways to justify Blu Ray by wasting space.. do you know how many people in the world could possibly tell the difference or have a sound system so luxurious to care about uncompressed audio?

Which means, being HS is probably like a 17 or 18GB game, the real game is like 7-8GB's.

And why does cmlkb seem to spend more time posting anti-360 stuff in the Microsoft forum then he does in  his favorite system's forum?

ok, i have totally lost respect for dvd in gaming.  i thouht u could fit anice sized epic on there with some hard work, but i guess not.  it seems to me that it should be blu ray or a dl game (hopefully by the time it matters we can have 3 gig games for dl) by the end of the console life cycle.

my pillars of gaming: kh, naughty dog, insomniac, ssb, gow, ff

i officially boycott boycotts.  crap.

What people need to realize is that this is going to effect the 360 version of the game, regardless if you agree or not. The PS3 already had an advantage with this game, and the more info about the game that comes out the greater that advantage appears to be.

Mark Rein has been very complementary with the PS3 in the last few months. He spoke praise about home, the PS3 being a open system and now even talking up the Blu-ray. Everything that comes out of his mouth regarding the 360 version though is the opposite, and 360 fans cannot ignore or pretend that the 360 version will not be effected by it because it most definitely will be effected.

Epic are pissed off with Microsoft and their policies and they are making their point very loud and clear. It's is BS to ignore Epic raising concerns while talking up Ubisoft spouting negative things about the PS3.... that is just fanboyism.

Microsoft has dropped the ball with this game and it has bite them in the ass. They need to accept that, learn from it, and prevent it from happening again. Epic and Sony are totally talking up the PS3 version, the 360 version takes negative hit after negative hit.... c-mon.
