I wouldn't call SONY awesome, but I have to give them credit for sticking their necks out. Companies like LG and Panasonic normally takes a wait-and-see approach. What they normally do is see where the industry is heading, see what the "leaders" are doing, and they take advantage of the successful trends. That's why they sell quality mid-range products as good prices. SONY is one of the few a/v companies that do most of their research and development while trying to minimize dependance on competitors' products. This is why they produce some of the best a/v products.

Sony said 2008 was the year of the PS3. But I think 2009 will become even better.

VidZone - Music video streaming and download (probably around summer)
Life With Playstation - Update with new functions (announced for spring)

Final Fantasy XIII (Japan only)

Sony is permanently trying improve the experience of its console. For me, personally, this is reason enough to say Sony is awesome.

QFT! I had the disk read error twice, and it pissed me off, but I forgave them since the PS2 had an amazing library. I can forgive MS too for the library, and at least they are giving warranties :)

Cell IS more powerful. So you can ebtter understand, look at the PS3 games and 360 games. They look about the same (talking about multi-plat games). then look at the exclusives, MGS4 won bestgraphics in a console game of 2008. Killzone 2 also has better graphics than most if not al games already released on the PS3.

 

Now, let's say I'm wrong about MGS4 and KZ2 and those games don't look the same. The console with the Cell Processor, 256mb of RAM and 256mb graphics card is delivering same graphics as the 360, which has 512mb of RAM and a video card I believe of also 512mb (don't know the VRAM of the 360 but I believe it¡s 512mb).

Gears 2 won best graphics in 2007,Legend of Zelda got a 10 in graphics back in the day,what does that mean Cell has nothing to do with GRAPHICS.

And i believe that MGS4 would look better on 360,With 4-5 disc acourse,but the textures would look better.

 

wait just a second.geras 2 was realised in 2008. so how can gears 2 won the best graphics in 2007 when it was realised in 2008?

Well, unlike Microsoft, Sony fixed it within a year. i have my PS2 over 3 years and ii never had ANY problems with it. I don't think there are more than 5000 people who hade ONE 360 longer than 3 years (THANK YOU AGAIN MICROSOFT)

Hey I agree that Sony is getting a lot of bad rap. But then again they were everything last gen so even if they were second now ppl would still be ripping on them.

Oh please. You think Microsoft did that out of the goodness of their heart? They did it to get more sales. Pretty much everything the companies do is to get more sales.

As for most multiplatform games looking better on 360, the simple answer is that they don't. In fact, with 90% of games, there is no noticeable difference. Eurogamer just exaggerates things that people don't even notice. Apparently, the PS3 version of BioShock was completely unbearable to look at, and an insult to a great game. Of course, Eurogamer gave all three versions a 10/10, so apparently they don't care.

The reason games did look better on 360 to begin with is because developers had had more time with the 360. They knew it better, so they could optimise it better. It has a larger userbase, so they focus on it.

If the 360 is stronger than the PS3, why does nothing on 360 look as good as Killzone 2? Or MGS4?

And don't say Gears 2 has better graphics than MGS4. GameSpot, not exactly known for their PS3 love, gave MGS4 Best Graphics Technology of 2008. Gears 2 has very good graphics, probably the best on the 360, but you can't deny that MGS4 looks better. Yes, I have seen both in action.

I think Gears of War 2 looks better. We will all have different favorites. No point in arguing. Go Sony!!!!
