Forums - Sony Discussion - is gran turismo Graphically the best

Did you see the pics of Gran Turismo 5 being compared to real life cars? If you seen that then you'd know it's the best.

(I would find that pic but it's late and I'm lazy maybe tomorrow if someone else doesn't post it)

^^ Is this expected to be in backgrounds, lighting, damage or just more overall polish? I'd imagine car models and such aren't going to change much from their inception.

GT5p isnt the top but GT5 will be. the full engine will be amazing

Is it expected that there will be a significant difference between the two?

there will be about a 30% graphical increase.

For starters, where the hell are you getting this from?

Secondly, what the hell does a 30% increase mean? Because if it means using 30% more power then it shouldn't be terribly noticibal since graphics give diminishing returns.

Thridly, does this mean we will see a decrease in resolution, ala GTHD to GT5P?

I own Gt5p , ridge racer 7, forza2 and burnout paradise, and can say that forza has some of the most standard graphics I have seen for a racer on the next gen. The fact that it doesnt run in 1080 destroys any graphical credibility it might have had. It does not hold up any where near as well as burnout does at 1080. Ridge racer 7 and Gt5p are the crispest of the games I own, they look amazing at 1080!!! I havent seen ingame cars look as good as GT5p cars, so from a car perspective GT5p really takes the cake! The environments in GT5p are also REALLY good! From a photo realistic stand point the game is really out there! And the london track really shows off how well GT5p does cities in comparison to burn out. But burn out, being a more arcade style racer benifits from the less realistic graphics

Of the games I own I would say

GT5p
Burnout paradise
Ridge racer 7
Forza 2 (whats with that microsoft!!!)

If at first you don't succeed, you fail

Yes it can't be compared to the PC racing sims in terms of physics, but it is the best console racing sim right now. The good PC racing sims look like crap.

The graphic and realism have to be on a very high level when the Ferrari used GT5P as a part of their promotional material for the new California.

In the recent Auto show in New York, multiple driving seats and TVs were set up for GT5P over the Lexus booth to promote the IS-F.

If you have a PS3, download the Drift 101 video over PSN, the drifting champion talks how the cars in GT5P handle compared to the real cars. And how some racers use GT5P as a tool to get familiar with the tracks.

Maybe it's just me, I don't see auto manufactures using other said games in their promotions.

1. Estimating off the jumps between GT4p -> GT4 and GTHD -> GT5p. Also sources in Polyphony say "good visual increase". So I'm not going to expect some super dramatic increase like GTHD -> GT5p. Just an upgrade like Crysis to Crysis Warhead. Optimization does bring beauty after all.

2. more polygons, better visuals, nicer more fluent crowd animations.

3 Still 1080p at 60fps. Wont see a single framerate issue.

Well, in some ways Warhead was a step back from Crysis, although the lighting was improved. Still, for most people those changes wouldn't be that noticiable.

GT5P has a lower horizonatal resolution than GTHD. On the plus side it has better AA, so most people wont notice on normal HD tvs, at normal viewing distances.

Yeah ever since I started driving I've taken a liking to simulators and the GT5 cars do compare to the real life versions. I can only say that for the slow cars though hahahahaha I don't own a Ferrari! All thats missing is the gees from turning, breaking and accelerating.

I bought GRID the other day and man is it intense. I have my 360 hooked up to a 52 inch 7 series samsung and it is awesome. When the graphics are that close I seriously think the better game in this genre is the one that gives you that adrenaline rush.
