Forums - Sales Discussion - VGChartz vs. NexGen Wars

I used to look ngw but since they have a timer saying so many consoles sold in this 3 seconds i dont believe it anymore.

i think the numbers might be quite ok, but the forum on vgchartz is more active. and more people means a faster post of new gaming things :)

life isn't complicated, just face it simple.

In the end the truth prevails. And those who are hard-working and are always trying to improve what they offer are usually looked down by the lazy ones, in an attempt to brainwash their own users and to stop them from leaving their site and realizing that it doesn't offer much more than a discussion board.

I find funny how both NexGenWars and NeoGaf try to censor this website, yet this website, which is for sure the most accurate of all and the most accused of being wrong, doesn't pay them with the same treat. That says a lot about ioi and demonstrates that this place is different from the rest.

NeoGafers and NexGenWarriors: Even if you don't consider accurate the figures of VGChartz, you can't deny this website has something that yours hasn't: 100% Freedom of Speech.

This is why they stopped making that history graph IMO -- to hide the massive periodical "readjustments".

This is exactly why I switched over from nexgenwars to here: Better numbers, more detailed numbers, more reliable numbers. I never looked back except out of curiosity as to where their numbers were compared to here.

And I think you're right about Xbox 360 numbers being 12 million recently. The funny thing is that I remember thinking that the Wii and PS3 numbers were very close to VGChartz which made the huge 360 bubble that much more remarkable. I guess the bubble popped.

The best thing to come out of nexgenwars is the link to that Haloid video.

[edit:  They also have a nice pie chart graph.  :D]

I have the most epic death scene ever in VGChartz Mafia.  Thanks WordsofWisdom!

omgwtfbbq, grow up. Nextgenwars and vgchartz are comparable. Both have a methodology for fans and by fans. Last time I checked, vgchartz didn't own the patent on playing guessing games. Seems to me that vgchartz is changing based on what hes seeing on nextgenwars. I guess it depends on the flavor you choose. And Neogaf censors? They do? One of the most reputable industry web sites out there and you say they censor? Seems to me someone's jealous and it ain't neogaf or nextgenwars. Get a life.

Actually, Jasmine, VGChartz has this amazing thing called "having a historical record of past numbers" which tells you it hasn't done any massive changes to its estimates.

nexgenwars can't say the same anymore as far as I know.

Am I wrong?

[edit:  Hey omgwtfbbq, it looks like someone on their end can be bothered.  How about that?]

Well, he is correct. And even if he wasn´t, terms like "grow up", "get a life", etc. shouldn´t be used in this forum.

I expect everyone posting here to "have a life" next to videogames and sales figures. Please try to be polite.

And welcome to vgchartz, as I never saw you posting before. Enjoy our beautiful discussions

Louie, and I have never paid attention to any of your posts, or seen you so as far as I'm concerned, welcome :) Did you start this post? I didn't think so.

What are you, the forum police? "Grow up" and "Get a Life" are benign compared to some flames I've seen on here. Something tells me if I was more biased and sang praises of one site over another, and did not give fair play to everyone, you'd be just fine. The whole point of forums all over the Web is to be able to speak your mind without having to obey some unspoken laws. Common courtesy says don't use foul language, DON'T MISREPRESENT OTHERS, things of that nature.

jasmine,

in terms of websites among the gamers i know(not this site) that followed sales nexgenwars was regarded as "their numbers are so off its rediculous" sort of website- they made fun of it if it was brought up as a reference.

in the past WEEK the 360 number Dropped by around 10% (360 was almost at 12 million) and the wii Gained 10%(they had the wii just barely breaking 9 million) so in the past week, on nexgenwars, the 360 "lost" around 1 million units...and the wii Gained around 800 thousand units.

vgchartz is also rediculed, but when someone went through and compared the vgchartz's Wii numbers to official NPD numbers..that criticism went down immensely.

for the record vgchartz is within 4% of NPD's official number(us and canada) for the wii- (as of last month)

Never trust nexgenwars for anything, the site is completely off.

That's great, Lenard, thanks for doing the math for me. My calculations must be off but my MBA from Wharton must not be worth the paper it's printed on because I am still finding total vgchartz % to be off by unacceptable amounts when compared to actuals but, again, this is a fan site so I don't care. I could start up my own site, drop numbers in from here and there, change them whenever, make claims and suck in fans, but I don't. I am not saying vgchartz is the only one, far from it actually.

I come here to read the forums when I have time off, as I do so many others. these type of web sites serve a great purpose on the internet and I'm glad they are around. What I despise is when one site trashes another for no good reason or when one flamer gets a bug up there butt and thinks the site they are on is the only site out there with knowledge.

These type of sites are great for making predictions. It is fun to see how close or not people can come to the real thing. Each month is a shot in the dark and one month vgchartz is closer or nextgenwars is closer or simexchange is closer. It's all good.
