Honestly, I didn't get my 360 until late last summer. Wasn't really because of peer pressure ( more just that Microsoft is trying to get my kind of gaming as of late vs Sony who seems to be stalking the shooter crowd lately) but I have actually have three co-worker on 360 than the one co-worker and a bunch of forum people on my PS3.

Course I don't game with any of them since I never have the shooter they are playing at the time.

Crap, i miss WoW...

 $200 XBox then they'll want the $100 60GB, $20 battery pack, $20 charge cables for controllers, $60 for LIVE.  I won't even touch on WiFi which I know would of been another $130 for me.  Oh suddenly the 360 is more expesnive and the PS3 and the PS3 had that stuff out of the box.  The PS3 throws in HD theatre, motion and an extra 20GBs at no extra cost.  PS3: pay less get more.  Also the 360's DVD limit is just a few years away.  PS3 BD medium has years of growth left before they max that out.  Get more in terms of what comes with it, get more in terms of life cycle and for the most part 360 users they end up paying the same as the PS3 on hardware that the PS3 already came with.  Same game experience??  I can play Gears, Viva Pinata, Mass Effect, etc etc on my PC.  You can't play MGS4, Uncharted, LBP, Resistance on your PC.  Pay more on a 360 to play games that more the most part I can either play on my PS3 or PC just to have to my investment discontinued by MS very quickly like that last Xbox?  No way.

What it comes down to is you are paying

Reminds me of how I bought a PS2 in 2003 and my cousin bought a Xbox and 2 years later his $250 he invested in all that hardware went poof! and he had to buy a new console, the chose a 360. 6 years later I'm still enjoying my investment.

He made the mistake of buying a 360, forked over $500 in hardware: chargers, battery packs and LIVE. I forked over $500 for my PS3, no extra hardware bought for it since. In 2010 when DVD is finally too little to develop games on, he'll have to fork over another $400-$500 on the new Xbox to keep on gaming. I won't. BD will be able to handle the growth in the size of games till 2012,2013,2014...or even longer. We both paid the same but I'll enjoy it longer. He plays Gears? I play Gears on the thing I'm currently typing on. He plays Mass Effect? So can I. He plays Viva Pinata? So can I! I play MGS4. He can't. He needs a second console. I play Uncharted. He can't! I play Resistance. He can't. I play LBP. He can't. I'll play Killzone. He won't. He needs a second console to play my favorite PS3 games. To play the majority of his favorite games, I don't.

This is indeed a huge factor. It also affects the games that you play and how long you play them. A few of my friends agree that CoD4 is better than WaW (who am I kidding? Most of them), yet most still play WaW because everyone else is.

I see this more with my 360 playing friends. Out of them, only one really plays football, he's the only one who plays for a team... and yet, when he picked up Fifa 09 so did all of the rest of 'em... I don't think they even knew the colours of the team's uniform that they were playing as.

i got 6 of my friends to buy a ps3, and i also got 5 friends to buy a 360 as well. got my boss and manager at my work to get a wii, i am trying my best to get everyone involved in gaming.

He was just responding in kind to a  "buy all of your friends ps3's" comment. Don't blame him if he just got a little flustered from somebody elses trolling.

The original reason I got an XBox was to play with my friends. Reason why I got a 360 was to play with friends. (Personally, if I had the final say, I'd go PC gaming, but oh well.)
