Forums - Gaming Discussion - Will Killzone 2 break the cycle?

So Sony has seen a few games in the past year fall short of sales expectation. And while RE2 and LBP have now sold over a million copies they disappointed in the first week sales, etc. Earlier this week i saw a review for killzone 2 at 8/10 which is low for this type of hyped up game. SO will Killzone 2 break the disappointment cycle or will it fall victim to poor sales?

The "review" was a prediction of a review score from a website that isn't very acclaimed in the first place.

I figured but still it made me wonder

 What she said.

I think it will "disappoint" in first week sales, but LTD it will do just fine and make Sony lots of $$$. Seriously who cares about first week. Uncharted first week was a measly 136k and LTD is well over 2 million

I think it will be the PS3's third-best-selling title so far, behind GTAIV and Call of Duty 4.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I have to say that if this game does not great the full money in terms of advertising Sony will have failed Guerrilla. There has only been one review by OPM which gave 5/5 and judging by the MP Beta this game is going to be good.

If this game really is of high quality in SP and MP like people are saying word of mouth will give this one big sales. COD 4 PS3 sales sounds about right to me but the first week I don't see it doing more then 500k.

Uncharted was a good game and it sold thanks to word of mouth, Sony have to stop relying on that and advertise there games. It's like they dont want to make money on the PS3 by not advertising, letting Yamauchi have great-grandchildren before GT5 releases etc.

The problem isn't the games, or their sales. But fanboys expectations.

GTA was meant to kill the Wii
LBP was meant to instantly upgrade all PS2 users to PS3 users

Stop expecting so much and you wont be dissapointed

In other words, glorified BS !   You can't predict a review ...

I suspect a cheap trick to have more people connecting to their website...

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

The thing is there is plenty of shooters around. While KZ2 may be a good game, its nothing new that is going to convince a bunch of people to buy ps3 to play it.

I do not know right now what to say. I'm kinda worried about KZ2 though. Its been hype big time and for a long time. The part that makes me worried is that the hype does not live up to expectation. Been kinda burned on a lot of over hype stuff lately.
