I believe that it might. There are certain games, such as SimCity, Rolando, Super Monkey Ball, and others that are thriving on the platform. There are upcoming games like Need For Speed that provide promise for the future of the platform. Where I think the iPod touch and iPhone really shine in terms of gaming, is through games like BurnBall. BurnBall is a wonderful example of a first time game developer having the oppurtunity to release their game without expensive investments.
