PS3 is destined for third place. PS3 is a money sink and it is costing Sony billions - every PS3 sold results in another $50 loss. The odds are against PS3 finish second unless it wants to lose more money - I am talking billions here.

The gap between XBox 360 and PS3 will continue to widen over the next year. I predict a 10 to 12 million gap between XBox 360 and PS3 by end of 2009.

There is little to no chance of PS3 over taking XBox 360 in total console sales this generation. You Sony fans can dream all you like but PS3 is never coming back this generation. You Sony fans assume PS3 will last on the market longer than XBox 360. "10 year life plan of PS3' - no way.

In reality PS3 and Xbox 360 will stop selling around the same time or within a year of each other no longer. New generation consoles take the place of the old console and the old consoles are dropped off within 24 months. Average console lifespan is around 5 to 6 years from start to finish. Only market leaders PSX, PS2 and NES have survived more than 10 years on the market.

No second placed console has survived for 8 years let alone 10 years. Things are not going to change. The chances of a third placed console this generation surviving 10 years are 1 in one million.

[ 99% Not valid]

Dude you gave validating machine such a task, it almost crashed.

Can you offer your reasons as to why this won't be the case? Or are you resigned to making generalised statements with no support to your claims?

You just need to look at other users reaction to numonex and you got your shiny answer.

^ Sorry I must have missed those yours looks like the first reply? You've got no opinion of your own? Didn't you bold and underline that statement?

I'd just like to hear why you think it's "99% not valid".

Yes I do but I keep it to myself because it doesn't interest no one in here. So I just stick with overall facts to discuss, as usual.

Awesome make brash statements about something being "99% not valid" and then offer no support to your opinion - and then try to pass it off as a 'fact'. I think they call that spam.

360: "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"

Well X360 boosted it's sales this christmas and pre-christmas period due to excelent line-up, free LIVE in some bundles and a price cut. PS3 was outselling it all year since that happenend.

So From now on, the PS3 will for shure have a price cut and I bet that Killzone2 will boost it like MGS4 did. The question, with a gap now counting 8 Million from Microsoft machine, will it be on time to overtake 360 and gain the second place?

I personally think not, it would end up the generation really close, but not surpass.

And Resistance 2 and Little Big Planet and Heavenly Sword and Lair and....

Sorry, the only people who care about KS2 are people who own a PS3. To put the sequel to a thoroughly mediocre title on the same level as one of the greatest franchises in history is either ignorance or wishful thinking.

As for final sales, it all depends. There are still a lot of Sony people out there with their PS2s. They could come Sony's way if the economy improves and the PS3's price ever gets to "normal" levels. However, as I've said many times before, unless there is an unprecedented turnaround for this console, the best it can hope to do is tie in 2-3 years, and under less favorable circumstances it likely won't catch the 360 until the next gen starts, at which point no one will care anymore.

the PS3 has a chance of beating the 360 by 2012 but only with a price cut and lots of top games, at the moment the 360 is gonna win by 10m consoles or so, they should both sell 50m consoles lifetime.

Oh really? Did you just called every gamer on earth to know that?

It would need just only me to be interested in KZ2 for your sentence being sent to the graveyard.
