Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Wii is supposed to be a gaming revolution? Oh dear..

Perhaps the "revolution" is the opening of video games to a wider audience. Obviously not everyone is going to enjoy the Wii but it seems like nearly 45 million people (kiddies, gamers, soccer moms, and grandparents alike) are all living it up.

Your opinions of the games are fine, they are your opinion of course. But why exactly did you feel the need to post this? To warn HD owners? Bash Wii fans? To find games that my appeal to you? It doesn't really help that your post was quite abrasive. Perhaps you would have been more credible if you had listed what types of games you liked in your OP, and then explained why the Nintendo games you mentioned don't appeal to you. But your post could easily be misconstrued as flamebait ... and it was. Hopefully that was not your intent but next time you or someone else tries to make a thread sharing their opinion, I would encourage them to promote quality discussion and not bashing. There have been plenty of quality threads where people have said they did were not enthused by the Wii and asked Wii fans to recommend games that may appeal to them.

Never argue with an idiot.  They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Sell your Wii if you aren't happy with it because obviously you seem pretty close minded when it comes to gaming.  Giving SSBB a 5/10 is purely pathetic.  No one in their right mind would give it a 5/10.

You just listed a slew of RPGs. That is not the same genre, genius.

Would you like to tell me the difference between Zelda TP and an action RPG? You walk around towns and dungeons, questing, collecting items, killing monsters, talking to NPCs.. the only difference is Zelda is missing everything to do with levelling and skill development.

There are a ton of games that contain all those aspects but they're not considered RPGs. Leveling and skill-development are two of the greatest and most important factors in calling a game an RPG.

This is one of the most basic concepts in videogaming.

Zelda - every single Zelda game - is action-adventure with a few RPG elements.

So basically I can choose between Zelda or a game I prefer with all the same gameplay mechanics which also includes levelling/skill-development? I don't understand what point you're trying to make.

According to that logic, Little Big Planet fails because it lacks guns.  Sure, you walk around and jump some, but you can do that in any FPS.  See what I did there?  I've played plenty of RPGs (several of which you listed), and none of them play like the Zelda series, sorry.

this topic fails very bADLY

I'd give it a 4/11, I only found the music enjoyable.

Regarding Smash Brothers:

The cool thing is Yathzee is almost always correct regarding games even if he takes it over the top. I would for example fully agree with his Uncharted review:

Uncharted: A game that does nothing new and is put together from numerous other games and movies (National Treasure, Indiana Jones ...)

I really loved Uncharted but that is basically correct, its not the most innovative title and the characters are very stereotyped. He was also spot on with Dead Space, the Prince of Persia games, Oblivion, Grand Theft Auto 4 etc.

So I would also be likely to agree with his BRAWL review: the game is shitty. Even though numerous people seem to worship it.

Except for portal, if you took Yahtzees word, every single game this generation is shitty, hardly a good metric for the quality of a game. It's meant to be comedy which focuses on negative aspects of a game and blows them out of proportion.
