I have never actually seen this question asked so with that said what do you think will be the total sales for DQ 9? I think this one is going to be an absolute monster in Japan.......that is also the most obvious prediction one could make. :P

4 million just in Japan and 1 million in EU and NA so total = 5 million

DQ is not strong outside of Japan at all, DQ 8 did 1 million but the last remake on DS tanked.

Nintendo is marketing DQIX outside of Japan.

They are a differnt company now than they were when Dragon Warrior first came out.

I'm not even going to hazard a guess. Needless to say, this game is going to be insane.

Yeah the thing is advertising does not always = immense gain in popularity

I cant see this one being any different, especially since this is a DS game and there are so many JRPG out there. FFXIII and Versus will do great in NA and EU, not so DQ 9

I'd say "only" 3,5 millions in japan, due to piracy, and 1,5 million in EU and 1 Million in NA. (because Ninty is marketing massively DQ9 overseas.

3.7 million in Japan.

1.2-1.7 million in America/Europe.

Nintendo could make Monster Hunter big in NA and EU though, seems a game which would appeal with NA and EU games more then DQ.

You'd never underestimate the "marketing power" of a company that is able to sold 20 millions of Nintendogs and Brain training copies outside the japan...

Hmm... lifetime? Given the DS's install base in Japan, 5-6 million would not surprise me. Both NA and others will barely crack 1 million, if they do.

I could see 4-5 million for DQ9 in Japan. 

I dunno about North America though. 

Europe might be the one market where Nintendo/Square-Enix can break through with the franchise though. 

Professor Layton has proved to be a hit in Europe, published by Nintendo, maybe DQIX can achieve a similar kind of success there.
