Forums - Gaming Discussion - Rockband2 vs Guitar hero world tour

Rock Band 2. It's gameplay feels much better. GH is too loose with its note recognition, and I hate how they'll add notes and chords where there shouldn't be any. Plus RB has a ton of DLC.

If I had a choice, I would pick Rock Band 2. But I honestly don't know which one is better.

i have RB1 which is good, im thinking about getting GHWT as it has Dig Out Your Soul on it

I haven't played RB2, but I have played RB1 and WT, and I preferred RB. Although WT seemed to have more songs, I preferred those on Rock Band, and I liked the drums better also.

i personally like Guitar Hero a lot more better songs in my opinion and there instruments are more solid and reliable but then again fill free to think differently

from what I've heard, GH:WT has the best hardware (save for the foot pedal of the drums), whereas Rockband has better software.

Therefore, in a perfect world, you get GHWT AND RB2 then play RB2 with the GH instruments.

If that's not possible, then I say get RB1 on discount (its only 100 bucks now for some systems!), then get just the software for RB2. Then get GH3 on discount and use that guitar for the RB bass guitar.

On a side note, who here plays Drums for real? How close is it to playing RB drums? I hear that the RB drums are nothing like playing on regular drums unless you have it on hard or expert.

No. RB2 uses the same songs from RB1 if you have the disc. GHWT uses its own content and you can't use any songs or downloads from the previous games.

I have all of the games - and have reviewed all of them from GH III to RB1, to GH WT and RB2. I would also recommend looking at all the songs and figuring out which ones you really like - vs. which ones are in the game.

the reason I did not get Rockband is because it is corney. The game takes itself to seriously. GH: WT has a more fun feel to it.

How so? I had more fun with Rock Band - and laughed hard at GH trying to jack Rock Band's fire.

The biggest thing is - GH's vocals really leave a lot to be desired. You have to figure out how to stay on track and they even throw stuff at you that you didn't train for. And the studio is cool, but that's the only cool feature I think should be on RB. Regardless, GH is fun, but you better love the tracks you have, because RB 2 is steadily adding more and more tracks and GH will be left behind.

Zakk Wylde is on GHWT, freaking Zakk Wylde!

This sold the game for me

Ozzy+Zakk seals the deal for sure...

That, and now that GH has Metallica, Aerosmith, and a few others on exclusivity...

I like GH better... My uncle-in-law liked the drums WAAAY better in GH, and he plays drums, bass, and regular guitar. He says the cymbals really make a difference, and that the amount of rubber makes it easier to actually do a drumroll, whereas in rock band, it's simply not possible...

Also, the slider bar rocks. It makes solos AWESOME, and vocals are much harder (in a good way), than in rock band... It made singing "Dammit" a challenge... I also like the new star power button, so I don't nessecarily have to tilt the controller. Also, the user-generated songs online are actually pretty fun.

I downloaded a cover of "Handlebars" by Flobots, expecting it to be crap, and it was actually really good. someone translated the violin to sitar, and translated that chart to guitar... the "trumpet" was a keyboard, and there were no vocals, but you could sing in the empty spaces if you knew the words (adding even 1 keyboard note enables the mic). other than no vocals and no trumpet, it was perfect. we knew the words, so it was fun...

Also, I found "Halo Theme", with the Ambient Vocals somehow intact... My bro was like "Ahhhh Ahhhh Ahhhhh AAAhhhhhh Ahhh Ah Ahhhhhh". It was awesome...

Not to mention, I hated the RB1 char creator... I love the GH:WT one, and I have yet to try the RB2 one, but, I've heard the GHWT one is better anyway, and I like the way the characters look better too...

I'm going to try to buy RB2 as well (I've played it, and liked it), but I like GH better, IMHO.
