Forums - Sony Discussion - What was The Best Platformer on the Original Playstation?

There were many platformers on the PS1 including Klonoa:  Door to Phantomile, Tomba! I and II, Ape Escape, and the original games in the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon series.  There were also puzzle platformers like the Original Oddworld games Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus and Heart of Darkness.  Which platformer do you consider to be the best on the PS1?

Heavens to Murgatoids.

I'm going to go with Crash Bandicoot. Those games were very solid and enjoyable and he was the face of the system.

Crash 2 and Crash 3 were both amazing.

Crash Bandicoot without a doubt.

I recently downloaded it off the PSN, put it onto my PSP and completed it. Excellent game even after all these years.

Tomb Raider

Crash Bandicoot, I had a lot of fun with that series.

Back in the PS1 days, I absolutely loved Crash Bandicoot 1 and 3.

Tomba 2 is still the best platformer ever made on PS1. Nothing comes close, NOTHING!

I think Crash Bandicoot, during his early years, was the Mario of Playstation and Sony. His games were really carrying the Playstation to new heights. I also think Spyro played a huge part as well as the GTA series and grand turismo series.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

Crash bandicoot, if a game was near of becoming the Playstation's Mario, this was it, with Spyro as a close second...
