I agree recovering from a failure is hard but MS seems to be doing a damn good job at it and Sony could has well try to recover.

Another thing that will happen if Sony drops SCE.....REDUNDCY payments when they close down SCE thats a heavy hitter on profits for any company and SCE has more than 1000 employees.

I'm not saying it's definite (or even likely), I'm just saying it's a possibility. It would have to be a two-pronged failure (PS3 performing poorly and PS4 failing to revive the brand name) to convince Sony to drop.

I agree with that if PS3 and PS4 failured without profits then Sony would probably consider dropping SCE or just turn to software like SEGA and Atari did.

And I agree with both of you guys, didn't take in consideration that Sega had so much failures that they never turned profit on, for example Sega 32X, CD, Saturn, Dreamcast. If this is Sony's troubling console than really the PS4 will tell Sony future on whether they should be in the business or not. And Nintendo isn't really worry about anything considering they are making profit on a every console sold and N64 and Gamecube were consider success to them. And the Wii is a definitely guarenteed sucess.

I agree with all of you lol. Yeah Sony wouldn't leave the console business easily. One generational flop isn't going to knock them out. Yes, it's costing them money, but they do have that money. Now if the PS4 and the PS3 both completely flopped (Not saying either is likely), then Sony would probably drop the game market. They aren't easily deterred though.

PSP is pretty safe. It won't do that well, but has developed it's own following rich in fighting games and ps2 ports.

PS3 is a question tho. If sales remain anemic through this time next year, plug pulling might be on the table. But it would be extremely unlikely as it might cause a backlash to the rest of the Sony brand. I think that they might just let PS3 stagnate until ps4 in 2010 or something.

But, at least Bluray is looking very strong, it might be a source of revenue that can cover for ps3

no way. laws of human nature show someone won't quit following billions of investment. they will either somehow win or continue to take substantial losses.
