hahahaaaaaaaaa, you gimme laughs, so you suddenly think nintendo will stop selling, and everyone will go 'i want a ps3'. Lol, foolish boy, looking at historical trends no console that sold like the ps3 in it's 1st year became a market leader. And please don't buy the 10 year plan hyperbole, after 6 yrs sony wil release ps4 and the ps3 will go on for a few more years selling(like ps1 did during ps2's yrs).

Time will tell on whether it does or not. Currently there are no plans for a FF on the Wii. Will that change? We'll see. If the PS3 picks up a head of steam and gains a larger market share, it could easily stay with Sony.

When HDTV really getting popular Nintendo is going to redesgin the Wii to a Wii Entertainment System Wii ES. Graphics will remain the same. It will be CD DVD DivX MP3 compatible. And it will have a HDMI port in 2010.

X360 and PS3 will also have a redesgin, 45nm and a facelift. PS3 might unlock SPE8 with a software update.

At the end of 2011 PS3 is getting closer to the Wii and will pass it somewhere in 2013. It will be clear for Microsoft that they will end up in third place (if they don't know already).

Microsoft will be the first one out again. They might go for a HD only and focus on LIVE. Although I don't think internet connection and Limits will be ready for it in most countries. I hope they will put in a voice chip. $ 500,-

If the PS3 gets some sort of Wii-mote addon in it's later lifecycle. I don't think a Wii 2 with 360/PS3 graphics will work for them. They will keep the Wii mote and make it also a High-End System. $450

OR they make a mix between Wii-mote and Revolution Helmut. Than they just slightly improve Wii-hardware. $400

PS4 will be a High-End System. 3,5" HD and also a voice chip is possible. Ofcourse Blu-ray will be in it. $550

Another point those that think PS4 will be blueray still are probably kidding themself. Theres a great chance it be a new format.

PS1: CD

PS2: DVD

PS3: Blue-Ray

etc...

 

but who knows but if 2012 is the next release of consoles or later then most liekly a new format will come.

 

I don't think that there will be another format after HDDVD/BR ...even now broadband is widely available and by 2012 i think that almost anyone in western countries will have access to some form of broadband (think of WiMax, HSDPA etc etc): you want a game? you'll download it... no more scratched discs: everything you've bought is in your personal DB (Steam anyone?) and you can retrieve it whenever you want (saving HD space)

 

oh, almost forgot: you want a movie?...you'll download it ...You have an "old" BR/HDDVD disc? ok, you can play it in the multiformat drive (or better: you can buy a stand alone drive for 40/50$ )...

 

my two cents: NO new format...and (probably) NO drive.

I think we will see a lot of improvement on the download-area, but I think we will be using the Holographic Vesatile Discs(15 Terabyte) and Protein-Coated Discs(300 Terabyte) around 2020-2030. Dont know what I'm talking about? Wkipedia search it.

 actually one of the 6 FFXIII spinoffs is rumored to appear on the Wii.
